Little girl arrived on Wednesday and she's absolutely beautiful. We're smitten but we still haven't decided on a name! I had a really horrendous pregnancy including depression and I just can't decide what she looks like, please help! Her brother is Oliver, surname is Haywood.

This is our list so far, happy to use either name for first or middle name, or if anyone has any other recommendations they would be much appreciated as I am starting to feel more than a little bit useless Sad!

Harper
Florence
Ella
Dulcie
Eden
Isabella
Neve/Neave

Thanks you wonderful MNers Grin

I adore Eden and Madeleine, and think those two or Isabella go best with both Oliver and your surname. Also really like Neve but would spell it Niamh. Congrats, and you're not useless - this naming thing is a nightmare!

Dulcie is gorgeous

DramaAlpaca · 20/06/2020 19:26

Florence or Isabella for me.

Harper and Dulcie are horrid, Ella is pretty but a bit wishy washy.

Neve/Neave - it's Niamh! Don't mess with the spelling of such a beautiful name.

Eden would be a nice middle name.

Flappingflamingo · 20/06/2020 19:30

I have an Isabel and Niamh so a bit biased, if going for Niamh I personally feel it should be spelt that way. I love the name Florence though, that's my favourite from your list and sounds lovely with Oliver

Marlena1 · 20/06/2020 19:35

Agree re spelling of Niamh. If you wanted the same theme of Niamh with another O, Orla would be nice.

BrigitsBigKnickers · 20/06/2020 19:39

Madeleine Rose

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 20/06/2020 19:41

It doesn't have to "go" with Oliver
It does have to go with your surname
I think Harper Haywood sounds like someone destined for great things or a good time in life.

CatteStreet · 20/06/2020 19:45

Not Harper, not Eden, not Neve (you could use Niamh but spell it properly). Florence is lovely, Ella, Isabella and Dulcie are fine.

Nothing pretentious about Emmeline, and she can go by the very down-to-earth shortening Em.

123Dancewithme · 20/06/2020 19:56

Florence, definitely.

concernedforthefuture · 20/06/2020 19:57

I know young Olivers with sisters called:

Ruby
Harriet
Charlotte
Juliette
Bonnie
Danielle
Phyllis
Matilda (Tilly)
Imogen
Victoria

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 20/06/2020 19:57

Oooh Dulcie, such a lovely name and very unusual.

Florence is very nice, but may be shortened to Flo - so depends how you feel about that.

StayClosePooky · 20/06/2020 20:00

Thank you everyone this is helping a lot.

I've just asked her but she's in a milk coma Grin

I have an Oliver and if I had a girl she’d be called Ivy or Eloise.

Nihiloxica · 20/06/2020 20:07

Marianne

Coolerthanpurple · 20/06/2020 20:09

Isabella Florence is gorgeous!! And sounds good with Oliver

Tillygetsit · 20/06/2020 23:17

Our family Oliver has sisters Francesca and Amanda. We were a bit Hmm about Amanda but it suits her.
Florence is my favourite on your list but Isabella Florence is pretty.

octoberfarm · 21/06/2020 03:40

Also to add, we have an Oliver and if he had a sister she'd be Adaline. Isla, Anna, Lily, Grace or Madeleine. I know another Oliver who has a new sister called Emma, too. Just in case that helps!

bluemoon2468 · 21/06/2020 05:33

Congratulations on your new baby!

"Saying that, we don't have Oliver shortened and correct anyone who calls him Ollie so could be doable."

I guarantee he will become Ollie. There's only so long you can follow him around correcting people for, and those days are probably nearly over! My brother's name is William and my mum was on a mission to not allow this to be shortened to Will - with some effort she managed this during primary school, but literally day 1 of secondary school he became Will to all of his mates and teachers and that was that 😆 My mum could hardly follow a load of teenage boys around insisting they called him William 🙈 Make sure you're happy with any likely nicknames for your little girl. I think there's a high chance Florence will become Flo.

MrsGilly1 · 21/06/2020 05:42

Other suggestion..

Erin Isabella Haywood X

TenThousandSpoons0 · 21/06/2020 06:02

Came to say Madison or Madeleine - just jumped into my head - I see variations have already been suggested and your husband likes it :)

Chocolatecake12 · 21/06/2020 08:49

From your list I like Florence best but I have an Oliver and had his baby brother been a sister her name would have been Harriet.

northernlass81 · 21/06/2020 20:19

Oliver and Tess

chocolicious · 21/06/2020 22:13

Oliver and Sophia
Oliver and Emily
Oliver and Rosie
Oliver and Jessica
Oliver and Amelia
Oliver and Grace
Oliver and Abigail

MrsGilly1 · 23/06/2020 20:32
