Opinions on Essie?

What do you guys think of the name Essie? It would be Essie Joy Sarah Ball. Joy and Sarah are family names so they have to be included but feel free to suggest some other first names you like!☺️

I like it as a nickname for Esther.

okiedokieme · 19/06/2020 16:20

Sounds like a nickname

hotstepper4 · 19/06/2020 16:33

It sounds like someone trying to say Nessie. It's a cute nn though for Esther or Esmeralda. Love Joy Sarah

Quizeerascal · 19/06/2020 16:35

It needs to be short for something I think otherwise it feels a bit childish. Esther is lovely, Estelle could be an option even Elissa or Elise...

jenniuol · 19/06/2020 16:36

I do think it’s ok, but it makes me think of the nail polish brand

emmathedilemma · 19/06/2020 16:38

awful, sounds like it's missing a consonant

Whatsyourflava · 19/06/2020 16:49

Lovely name

Cabin · 19/06/2020 16:51

Messy

elenacampana · 19/06/2020 16:56

It’s a nail varnish brand.

Roselilly36 · 19/06/2020 16:57

Nail polish

SoftBlocks · 19/06/2020 16:58

Nails.

Pipandmum · 19/06/2020 16:58

There's an Essie at school (Y10, so about 15). It's ok. People will think it's a nickname. But I also think of the nail polish brand.

cliffdiver · 19/06/2020 17:00

It sounds made up, sorry.

Also having 'Joy' and 'Ball' in the same name immediately made me think of something you'd buy in Ann Summers.

Echobelly · 19/06/2020 17:00

I'd give something as a 'full' name on BC - Elizabeth, Esther, Esme, Esmerelda or whatever, so she has the option of using something longer when older if she wants. We did similar for our son - he's known by the nickname, but his birth cert has full name.

Kiki275 · 19/06/2020 17:00

First thought was "The Only Way is Essie", pretty as a nickname but I personally wouldn't choose it as a full name x

IsMiseMorag · 19/06/2020 17:02

nails

123Dancewithme · 19/06/2020 17:13

Better as a nn for Esther.

Imohsotired · 19/06/2020 17:15

I use it as a nickname for my DD. I love it for when they are younger but prefer her full name for teenager /adult

ShrimpSymphony · 19/06/2020 17:16

Nail varnish

daisypond · 19/06/2020 17:25

No. Esther is great. Hester is great. Vanessa is great. Etc.

sweetnosugar · 19/06/2020 17:27

I feel the same as many above, it’s the nail varnish brand that comes to mind.
How about Elsie? Still short and sweet.

Janek · 19/06/2020 17:28

I watched Unorthodox on Netflix recently. The main character was called Esty, short for Esther. I really liked that.

Wither · 19/06/2020 17:56

It sounds like a nickname.

whatausername · 19/06/2020 18:14

Nail polish.

Also, when she is 15 she'll be sick of the word 'essay' :-P

richele4 · 19/06/2020 18:16

Agree with PP it doesn't sound like a full name
