Harper and/or Summer

Sister to Noah.
We still like Arabella but not sure if its too frilly.
We both also really like Harper and Summer. But have a few reservations.

Harper
Ive read comments on here saying it will date badly? There seems to be a feeling that its copying the Beckhams?

Summer
Could this be used for a girl even if she wasn't born in summer months?

Which would you pick? And why?

Thank you.

@GiGi18 I have to say I do quite like Elodie......

@tilder Margot may possibly work.
Margaret definitely not. Would look like I was naming after a family member!
I guess I'm just not sure what suits Noah if I'm honest. My other boys name is biblical but I'm not overly keen on biblical girls names. None seem to take my fancy.

Harper is awful, really downmarket to it put it kindly. If you love Matilda, still use it, it's a beautiful name.

Tavannach · 09/06/2020 22:51

I like Elodie

Calypso
Harriet
Robyn

WSLTitanic1912 · 09/06/2020 22:55

@user1493494961 Unfortunately I don't feel able to use Matilda. Otherwise I would.

What does downmarket actually mean? @user1493494961?
Matilda isn't my taste at all, very harsh and quite ugly but I'd never be cheeky to judge it as 'downmarket' because I don't like the sound.
I think anyone who thinks it's acceptable to use this term is a snob.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 10/06/2020 16:01

Check popular names in the last 10 years or so since the arrival of Harper Beckham.
I don't think there was a surge, I don't think it caught on generally.
It's a mumsnet snob issue, not a popularity issue, it's a lovely name.

SummerBreeze20 · 10/06/2020 16:05

I have a Summer (almost a teenager)! Coincidentally, she was born in the summer months, but that isn’t why we chose the name. We both loved it, and still do. I had only ever heard of one Summer when she was born, but now I hear it a few more times.
I must have been thinking of her when I chose my username Grin!

SummerBreeze20 · 10/06/2020 16:07

Sorry, just seen you’ve scrubbed that name.

CocoLoco87 · 10/06/2020 16:10

I like Bella Ball! But then my name is aliterative too Grin

Cbeebiesrehab · 11/06/2020 10:38

I think Elsie and Noah really compliment each other. I also know a Noah and Penelope (Penny)

ArriettyJones · 11/06/2020 10:44

How about Martha if you can’t use Mathilda?

Jaimiemx · 11/06/2020 10:46

I prefer Harper, I think it’s a really nice name, all 3 are to be fair. You could always double barrell it like Harper-Rae for example then you’d feel less like copying VB.

Summer is also nice but just prefer Harper x

Jaimiemx · 11/06/2020 10:52

Nellie goes nicely with Noah x

Namechange8471 · 11/06/2020 10:56

Summer is lovely!
Harper doesn’t sound very nice to me , seems quite chavvy too..

SallyWD · 11/06/2020 12:30

I prefer Summer and it could be for a baby born any time. It brings up lovely, happy images in my mind. I know an Autumn born in Spring.

Notajogger · 11/06/2020 13:26

Elsie is the nicest from your list and goes with Noah.

Poppyfields21 · 11/06/2020 23:53

What about Isabel, Eleanor, Madeleine (similarish to Matilda?), Eloise

Bouncingbelle · 12/06/2020 02:50

I like Summer, but as everyone has pointed out, not with your surname.
Arabella is too flouncy and “belle of the ball” for me
Harper is a name that has really grown on me, however it is VERY popular where I live, if that kind of thing bothers you.

I think Elsie goes well with Noah, and love Chloe & Eloise. Or what about

Sadie
Rachel
Eloise

Bouncingbelle · 12/06/2020 02:54

Oops didn’t see poppy fields suggestion of Eloise. The Noah’s I known have sisters called Louisa, Samantha, Macey & Robyn.

babynamelover · 12/06/2020 10:22

Harper is do harsh sounding I've never warmed to it.
I love Summer with Noah, feminine but strong at the same time 😍.

katherine332 · 14/06/2020 14:33

Both names are beautiful but i like summer better.

WSLTitanic1912 · 14/06/2020 14:35

@katherine332 Apparently I can't use Summer with surname Football according to the world of mumsnet.

Viviennemary · 14/06/2020 14:36

Harper is awful. Summer is a lot better. Harper in any case is too much linked to those Beckhams

ThighThighofthigh · 14/06/2020 19:21

I much prefer Summer but not with your surname!

How about Samantha?
