Thoughts on Phoebe? It’s most likely our girls name choice but want opinions as I’m not 100% sold

Lovely name.

june2007 · 09/06/2020 22:43

I know 3, 2 high school 1 nursery. (Oh and a cat.0 I always liked the name.

Tillygetsit · 09/06/2020 23:02

This is very niche but all I can here is Ade Edmundson shouting "Pheeeb! One boiled egg!"

Tillygetsit · 09/06/2020 23:02

Hear obviously. Long day.

Edenember · 10/06/2020 00:39

@schafernaker love. Would use if I hadn’t called my cat it

AdalindMeisner · 10/06/2020 00:48

A lovely name. I only know one who is 3. My first thought was phoebe from friends though!

chickbaa · 10/06/2020 00:53

Going against the grain, I really don't like it.

I only know one in real life and I am not a fan.

123Dancewithme · 10/06/2020 14:59

Makes me think of feeble too. Don’t like it.

Reader1984 · 10/06/2020 15:01

Great name!

Grufallosfriends · 10/06/2020 16:16

I don't like the spelling or sound at all, sorry.

CharlieBoo · 10/06/2020 18:30

I don’t go mad on it, but the plus side is it’s not that popular I only know one x

17caterpillars1mouse · 10/06/2020 19:27

I love it

FreckledLeopard · 10/06/2020 19:30

I have a Phoebe - she's 19 now. I'm obviously biased! The only real issue is that so few people can spell it correctly- over the years we've had Pheobe (most common error) as well as Feeby, Feebie, Phobie....the list is endless!

The only other annoyance is that everyone assumes she's named after Phoebe from Friends.

Whatsyourflava · 10/06/2020 19:47

I absolutely love it- one of my all time favourites

I can definitely imagine 19 years ago people would associate the name more strongly with friends as it would have been the biggest show on TV and phoebe was rarely ever used as a name then. It's more mainstream now. A bit like "Jude". 19 years ago you might assume Jude Law fan but not now.

What's DD1s name if you don't mind me asking @schafernaker

schafernaker · 10/06/2020 21:19

@whatsyourflava Dd1 is Niamh so spelling isn’t something that concerns us 🤣 nothing can get massacred as badly as Niamh does sometimes.

Nice to see on the whole it’s a positive response 😊

One of my least favourite names (sorry). Just sounds to me like feeble and because of that, seems such a weak name.

Yep it is a MN fav but I really can't warm to 2 syllables that are horrible sounding. I agree with this also.

4pence · 12/06/2020 16:46

You can do better !

Microwaveoven · 12/06/2020 16:55

Love it, but I know sooooo many!! At least 10 at DC school of 120 pupils!!

mam0918 · 12/06/2020 20:05

I think its a marmite name

I hear people say they love it but its like nails on a chalk board to me, its not that I have bad associations with the name or anything it simply just the sound, a clash of 2 very harsh syllible 'FEE'-'BEE' just sounds jarring to me

Poppyfields21 · 12/06/2020 23:10

Strong, classic name

rayn · 12/06/2020 23:16

Love it!!

Ellmau · 12/06/2020 23:46
