Our shortlist is now down to:

Eliza
Camille
Isabelle/Isobel
Amelia
Camilla
Penelope
Primrose

Id love to know peoples options, a couple of these we like but are so popular we're trying to find pretty names not in the top 20.

Any other similar suggestions also appreciated

I like Penelope and Camille best.

Eliza, Isabelle/Isobel and Amelia are all ok. Isobel and Amelia both popular though.

Camilla is just always going to be Parker Bowles to me. Also makes me think of Cruella.

Primrose is not for me, it's too cutesy.

BeMorePacific · 30/05/2020 23:38

Love Camille, and it isn’t too overused. Penelope, quite like but would likely be shortened to Penny, Nell or Nellie. Primrose, Gaz from geordie shore named his daughter this. So it may grow in popularity x x

Adelais · 30/05/2020 23:39

I like Eliza and Penelope. Amelia and Isabelle are very popular so you might want to avoid those if you don’t want anything too popular.

Crabbo · 30/05/2020 23:40

Eliza - no
Camille - lovely
Isabelle/Isobel - nice but overused
Amelia - thousands of them everywhere
Camilla - Parker Bowles
Penelope - no
Primrose - no

Tillygetsit · 30/05/2020 23:43

Eliza is lovely but may become yet another Elle/Ellie. Camille is my favourite.

Coffeeandcake1 · 30/05/2020 23:47

I love Camille too but DH is worried about pronunciation being too 'Kamil' instead of 'Cameel' and prefers Camilla.
Do you think this would make any difference?
Totally agree with the popularity of Amelia and Isabelle which we wanted to avoid.

Eliza and Camille are my faves from your list

TeddyBeans · 30/05/2020 23:47

Love Penelope for all the nicknames it comes with!

Camille is a beautiful name

manicinsomniac · 30/05/2020 23:54

I like Isabelle and Camilla from your list.

Aclh13 · 31/05/2020 00:00

Eliza ❌ seems quite pretentious
Camille✔️ sweet /unique
Isabelle/Isobel❌ too plain/boring
Amelia❌ too common
Camilla❌ camille is better
Penelope✔️ can be shorted to penny
Primrose✔️ fairly unique has good nickname options

Edenember · 31/05/2020 00:10

@Coffeeandcake1 Eliza is my favourite by a mile... it’s on my list. I like both your ‘p’ names but Penelope seems to be getting very popular at least on here... not sure how that translates into the real world or if such things bother you. Primrose would perhaps be harder to wear as an adult but people grow into their names. Isabelle and Amelia, while lovely names, are just so ubiquitous At the moment, again if that bothers you. Much prefer Camille to Camilla which I find a bit stuffy for a little one, however my perception could easily be changed by meeting a little Camilla.

sweetnosugar · 31/05/2020 00:10

Isobel or Primrose has my vote!

Awrite · 31/05/2020 00:17

Have always loved Eliza.

There's a great song called Eliza by Anna Calvi. It rocks.

Don't like the rest.

DramaAlpaca · 31/05/2020 01:51

Not Primrose, I can't stand the 'prim' part, but the rest are all fine.

My favourites are Penelope and Camilla.

Least favourites are Amelia and the aforementioned Primrose.

Phoebeboo · 31/05/2020 05:33

I like all of your names haven’t heard of a Camille before, that’s beautiful as are Eliza and Penelope. What about Dorothy, Poppy or Willow?

Isabelle/Isobel - love but popular
Amelia - love but popular
Camilla - like, very pretty
Penelope - ok
Primrose - like

Eliza or Penelope
Don't like Camille, sounds like Camel to me and makes me think camel toe

captainraymondholt · 31/05/2020 09:30

Eliza - I love this. It's quite popular but lovely.
Camille - it's ok but I prefer Camilla
Isabelle/Isobel - is a pretty make but so so so so so popular! My dd is 18 and has never had fewer than 3 in her year group. And we still know lots of little ones now.
Amelia - ok. I prefer Amelie
Camilla - I love this, it's one of my favourite names
Penelope - it's ok. I love Nell but really dislike Penny.
Primrose - not keen.
I would go for Camilla or Eliza
