Chic girls names

Looking for help with girls names. I'd describe the style name I like as quite chic sounding but not too frilly or flowery. Nothing too popular like Grace, Ava, Isla etc, prefer known but unusual/less used names.

Names I have so far in order of preference are:

Claudia (the 'lame' meaning doesn't bother me)
Felicity (I see this is rising in popularity though)
Bianca
Sylvie (DH's suggestion)

In addition, if anyone could think of any similar to this list that we could consider, fabulous x

@ShagMeRiggins Although it was arbitary, it did come across pretty clearly as @florascotia2 interpretation of chic - she even named a designer who she finds chic and what the associated aesthetic suggests to her. Opinion yes, prejudice no.

florascotia2 · 18/05/2020 10:33

Thank you very much indeed, whatausername. I intended no offence or prejudice. As you say, it's all about what I considered to be chic - a sort of simple restrained elegance. My answer would have been totally different had the original poster said ' what names do you consider pretty, for example, or feminine, or fashionable, or daring .....?'
It would be the same for clothes, or interior decoration. For example, I don't consider tea-dresses or 1950s style frocks particularly 'chic', but I might well consider them 'pretty' or 'striking'.

It's all a matter of personal taste, and the use of words. No judgement or criticism whatsoever. And most certainly not prejudice.

Sylvie is gorge 💕 cute on a little one, sophisticated on a lady

ThrillTheaker · 18/05/2020 12:31

Thanks so much for all the suggestions. Some absolutely gorgeous ones there x

I knew a little girl in Germany called Slyvie. She had a German dad and American mum. She would be about 12 now. It definitely was very sweet and lovely and worked in both English and German.

Of your list I like Claudia the most then Sylvie and Felicity. I like Bianca but it makes me think of Eastenders.

A few more suggestions below.

Valentina
Juliette
Estelle
Romy
Nina
Greta
Clemency
Clara

I have a Claudia so am biased but it is a great name and also not bothered by the meaning (it has stayed the same in popularity in the last 7 years since we have used it). I wonder if the meaning of the name puts people off.

ThrillTheaker · 19/05/2020 14:50

Estelle and Nina are definitely options. For those of you who already have a little Claudia, out of curiosity, what were your other options? Does she like her name?

Or Celeste.

Ineedabreak19 · 20/05/2020 04:32

I know a Claudia and a Claudine and they are both lovely women.

No to Bianca as it is too Eastenders soap for me.
Felicity is relatively unheard of in my area, I only know of one girl by that name.

Sylvie brings to mind Sylvie Guillem. The very epitome of chic. As a teenager I saw a South Bank Show about her and became a little bit obsessed!
I wish I could link photos.

choli · 20/05/2020 04:57

Sylvia is a much better name than Sylvie.

DamnYankee · 20/05/2020 05:14

So many good ones. Alice! Elizabeth! Honor!
Do know a Liberty, too (15)...she's a lovely girl and very talented!

Clemency, though. That's a legal term.

"an act of mercy by a person in authority toward someone who has committed a crime, esp. by reducing a punishment: The governor refused to grant him clemency, and he was executed at 9 a.m. yesterday".

So that's a no.

DamnYankee · 20/05/2020 05:17

Claudia is great! Most of the little girls of my acquaintance think they and their names are awesome.

And they are!!

Normandy144 · 20/05/2020 22:04

To answer your question, my Claudia hasn't said she doesn't like her name(I have asked her) but she is only just 7 so I don't know if it's too early to hate your name? I don't particularly like my name and think I was more vocal about it from about 9 or 10.
I can't remember the complete list but others I liked were Lydia, Gabriella, Valentina, Saskia, Charlotte, Amber, Violet, Imogen and Avery.

LetItGoHome · 20/05/2020 22:29

Think Audrey oozes style. ♥️
