Dp is trying to get me to come around to this name but I'm just not sure. What do you think?

I quite like it. Classy, uncommon, maybe a bit posh?

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 16/05/2020 20:49

I’ve only ever met one and she’s lovely. She’s in her 60s but as she’s the only one, it doesn’t feel like an ‘older’ name, just her name!

There was a Maxine (Max for short) in Stranger Things and she was pretty badass, so it might have a revival off the back of that?

Awbu · 16/05/2020 20:50

I like it but it’s not old enough to be retro yet

Peridotty · 16/05/2020 20:50

Hmm it’s an okay name but it would remind me of Maxine Carr.

PorpentiaScamander · 16/05/2020 20:51

Maxine Carr is my first thought. But when I get passed that I quite like it.

PorpentiaScamander · 16/05/2020 20:51

Past obviously not passed Hmm

Vellum · 16/05/2020 20:51

Agree it feels dated as it’s not old enough to be retro chic.

Zampa · 16/05/2020 20:51

It's an unusual name and I go straight to Maxine Carr and the Soham murders. However, people associate names I like with unsavoury characters so if you like it, go for it.

june2007 · 16/05/2020 20:52

Like it. I think of stranger things, and that's cool.

Destroyedpeople · 16/05/2020 20:52

Cool name

NameChange84 · 16/05/2020 20:53

If you are in the Uk, no.

ZsaZsaMc · 16/05/2020 20:53

I think of Soham too sorry

helpmum2003 · 16/05/2020 20:54

It doesn't do much for me. I know some lovely women with the name and even that doesn't swing it.

17caterpillars1mouse · 16/05/2020 20:55

Love it! I don't think it'll ever be popular enough to be considered to have made a come back, but it would certainly be refreshing to meet a little Maxine. Max is a great nn for a girl too

FenellaMaxwell · 16/05/2020 20:56

Carr. Sorry.

ZsaZsaMc · 16/05/2020 20:56

I also have no other association / reference for the name which is why it’s my first and only thought. Men who have been involved in terrible crimes generally have more common names - the first Ian I think of is Ian Wright for example!

june2007 · 16/05/2020 20:58

I also think of Max from casualty.

LemonScentedStickyBat · 16/05/2020 21:00

Peake. It’s a good association .

TeaAddict235 · 16/05/2020 21:02

There is one at my DS's pre school.

Cute

Viviennemary · 16/05/2020 21:06

It's a dated unattractive name.

BishopBrennansArse · 16/05/2020 21:06

My first reaction is Maxine Carr too

notangelinajolie · 16/05/2020 21:07

No because of Maxine Carr.

ofwarren · 16/05/2020 21:09

I think of Carr too. I think it's a harsh sounding name even without the Soham association.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 16/05/2020 21:24

Carr didn’t even occur to me. It’s so long ago now and while those of us who were around at the time will always remember, younger mums and their DCs won’t associate it with anyone.

Ninkanink · 16/05/2020 21:28

I still think of Maxine Carr as soon as I hear that name.

Too soon for me.

And also I think it’s quite an ugly name.
