Quinn or Cora

We are currently stuck between these 2 for our baby girl! I love Quinn and it goes really nice with our surname but my husband loves Cora and isn’t too keen on Quinn.

I like Cora as well but I’m not 100% on it yet.

What do you like better?

Quinn = stripper character in sitcom How I met your mother.

Quintana?

Glitterbubbles · 11/05/2020 17:59

Cora is beautiful

I don't think it works well as a girl's name.

Cora is fantastic, love it.

OVienna · 11/05/2020 18:01

I do like Quinn as a boy's name.

user1493494961 · 11/05/2020 19:44

Cora.

AngelaScandal · 11/05/2020 19:47

I love Cora but also Irish so Quinn a surname and also a supermarket (Superquinn)

daisypond · 11/05/2020 19:59

Cora. Quinn is awful.

Onthehamsterwheel · 11/05/2020 20:25

Maybe Quinn and Cora aren’t the names for you? I think you both need to love a name to choose it.

Whatsyourflava · 11/05/2020 21:17

Cora is a great choice
Not keen on other option x

babynamelover · 11/05/2020 21:22

I love Cora would have used it myself but hubby is Corie. I think Quinn is nicer on a boy but I know in lots of counties it is being used for girls.

DramaAlpaca · 11/05/2020 21:59

Like someone said above, Quinn is a very common Irish surname. I don't like surnames used as first names in general, especially for girls, and particularly not Quinn because of the connotations mentioned by others already.

I'm not mad on Cora, but it's way better than Quinn.

Flowerpot26 · 11/05/2020 22:13

I love cora!

missmouse101 · 11/05/2020 22:18

Cora is an ugly name and a kitchen implement. (Corer) Quinn is better.

DappledThings · 12/05/2020 21:16

Quinny” was Elizabethan slang for a woman’s vagina. Like saying Fanny, Pussy or Cnt today. It could come up in GCSE or A-Level English Lit or Drama at school so perhaps potentially a bit awkward in the future.*

Although Quinny is now a brand of buggy

This is why I snigger whenever I see one of those buggies

ellenpartridge · 12/05/2020 21:34

Definitely Cora by miles

Doryhunky · 12/05/2020 21:45

I learnt a new word!

SallyWD · 12/05/2020 22:03

Quinn is not a nice name at all. Cora is lovely.

PickUpAPickUpAPenguin · 12/05/2020 22:22

Quinn sounds like Quim or are you are Harley Quinn fan? I've heard boys on US TV called this if that worries you?

Cora is gorgeous and much more my taste.

Cheerfullygo4 · 12/05/2020 22:29

Cora is lovely. Quinn tends to be more of a boys name unless you are American.

Grufallosfriends · 12/05/2020 22:44

Cora or Clara for a girl.

Quinn or Quentin for a boy!

Lavenderblues · 12/05/2020 22:47

Quinn is a boys name. Like Finn. It sounds strong and masculine.

Cora is a pretty girls name.

Aclh13 · 13/05/2020 00:36

Don't know where most of these people live in the world but quinn is a girls name originally short for quinta and a very pretty name at that. Cora is quite old fashioned, reminds me of an eighty year old the bingo hall.

justonecottonpickingminute · 13/05/2020 00:41

Quinn is amazing!
Cora is nice.
I also like Cara but just don’t like Clara at all.
(It’s strange how names that are apparently so similar can resonate so differently with us.)

Kodiak83 · 13/05/2020 15:54

I have a Cora, primary school age now, and have never once regretted it. Beautiful name

Malysh · 13/05/2020 20:36

Why not compromise and go for Corinne or Corin ?

That said personally I like boy's names on girls, so Quinn doesn't bother me.

On the other hand Cora reminds me a bit of the legend of Korra, where the zponymous character is really cool.
