Quinn or Cora

We are currently stuck between these 2 for our baby girl! I love Quinn and it goes really nice with our surname but my husband loves Cora and isn’t too keen on Quinn.

I like Cora as well but I’m not 100% on it yet.

What do you like better?

Quinn sounds like Quim to me 🥺 I think she might get called this as a joke when she's older!

NameChange84 · 11/05/2020 13:14

Sorry I should have clarified what I meant by Quinn sounds rude!

“Quinny” was Elizabethan slang for a woman’s vagina. Like saying Fanny, Pussy or C*nt today. It could come up in GCSE or A-Level English Lit or Drama at school so perhaps potentially a bit awkward in the future.

Although Quinny is now a brand of buggy Confused.

Every Cora I've taught (not been many of them) have been absolutely lovely

emmathedilemma · 11/05/2020 13:36

Cora
Quinn is harsh and I'd have thought if was a boy's name.

Edenember · 11/05/2020 14:10

Cora is lovely x

LotusClover · 11/05/2020 14:21

Not keen on Quinn at all.

Cora is a slightly better but sounds like "corer" - makes me think of an apple corer. Clara and Cara are much nicer.

Susanna85 · 11/05/2020 14:29

So very put off Cora at the moment.
Too much of a Cor(on)a reminder.

It's just wrong place, wrong time. Go with the other one

keepingbees · 11/05/2020 14:32

Cora makes me think of an apple core (sorry.)

I was never keen on Quinn before before but my DD is friends with one and she's lovely, very sweet and bubbly.

Pemba · 11/05/2020 15:54

Not mad on either, but of the two I'd say Cora, because it is a clearly recognisable girls' name. Although I'd say Dora or Laura, Maura, Nora or Flora are all nicer. Or Thora!

Quinn could be read as masculine, it also has rude connotations (although a bit dated now, but they're still there in literature, as a pp said). It doesn't even have a nice sound really.

Stinkyjellycat · 11/05/2020 15:56

Cora.
Quinn sounds like a boy’s name.

Carrie7469 · 11/05/2020 16:01

Not Quinn for a girl. Not mad keen on Cora either, but it's better than Quinn.

rayoflightboy · 11/05/2020 16:03

Quinn is lovely.Cora is an old ladies name,I don't like it.

And Quinn does not remind you of Quim.

villamariavintrapp · 11/05/2020 16:10

Cora. Because quim.

Lonan · 11/05/2020 16:21

Cora

Allflightscancelled · 11/05/2020 16:23

I also think Quinn is a boy's name. I was going to use it for my son. Except he turned out to be a girl, so I didn't.

Quinn👍

MindyStClaire · 11/05/2020 16:29

Quinn is just a bog standard surname to me (Irish) and Cora is lovely, so no contest here.

FinallySleeping · 11/05/2020 16:29

I love Cora! Although would probably go for Coralie or Coraline and use Cora as a pet name. It's classy.

Quinn I think of as a boy's name, possibly because it reminds me of Finn or Flynn or something or that ilk.

MyHappinessProjectx · 11/05/2020 16:33

Cora

However.

It does seem inspired by Corona 🤔🤷‍♀️ tiny bit.

I dont understand the genitals thing?

Quinn is a sur name though. Not suited to being a girls name

NoSauce · 11/05/2020 16:48

Quinn is terrible and a surname.
Not keen on Cora either. Clara is a good suggestion though.

123Dancewithme · 11/05/2020 16:58

Cora. Quinn is a surname. It seems very American to use it as a first name.

Flymetothestars · 11/05/2020 17:00

Cora 100%

Lovely!!

Quim - errrrr no!

Wheresthebiffer2 · 11/05/2020 17:07

I thought Quinn is a boy's name.

I like Cora. But what about Coraline?

Or Keir (if you like unisex names).

sibbys · 11/05/2020 17:52

I love both.

Cora is much more girly
Quinn is edgy
