Hello - please can you let me know which of these names would be your favourite for a baby girl? All obviously ‘I’s apart from Hannah (I also love Iona but DH vetoed!)

Thanks everyone

Love Imogen

Aclh13 · 10/05/2020 01:11

Hannah/Imogen are equally as classy and the best names
Then isla which is quite common now
Then isabel which is boring imo x

Isabel by far the prettiest name .

Imogen- twee and bit pretentious
Hannah- nice but average
Isla- was a beautiful meme sadly ruined by popularity over kill

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 10/05/2020 09:57

Hannah and Isla are my favs. Both very popular but Hannah is classic and I think Isla will date well (plus it makes me think of beautiful Scottish islands.Smile)

I've never understood the love for Imogen on MN. To me it has a really ugly sound, in act it sounds like a brand of washing powder. And I hate any girls name ending in Bel/belle - too cutesy and Disney Princess (I know a lot of people will disagree with me on this.)

Imogen or Hannah (or Nina). All fabulous.

I'm afraid I've met too many little Islas and Isabelle/Isobel/Isabellas that I can't get excited about the name.

How funny, both the adult Hannah's I know get called Han all the time and both dislike it. Still, really like the name Hannah, but prefer Imogen

ThomasHardyPerennial · 10/05/2020 12:57

Nina or Hannah.

Thefaceofboe · 10/05/2020 13:20

I love Imogen and Nina. Hannah I personality find dated but it is a nice name. Isabel and Isla are too popular for me but are nice enough.

LostInTranslation34 · 10/05/2020 13:31

I’m a Hannah and I love my name and love being called Han! Not dull at all imo (but I may be a bit biased...teehee!)

The other names are lovely too :)

IslayBrigid · 14/05/2020 11:01

Imogen!

steppemum · 14/05/2020 11:07

so many Islas and Isobels, just so many eveyrwhere.

I have always loved Hannah, slightly less as it got veyr popular at one point, but still lovely.

I don't get th elove for Imogen, it is an ugly clunky name to me

DoctorBambino · 14/05/2020 12:29

I like Imogen best. Like the nickname Izzy but not Isabelle. Nina is kind of cool. Hannah is bla, I dont think I've like any of the Hannahs I have met though so that might be swaying my decision.

DoctorBambino · 14/05/2020 12:30

Oh and I forgot Isla, which says it all really Smile

TatianaBis · 14/05/2020 16:55

Imogen by miles.

CurlyEndive · 14/05/2020 16:56

Isabel is my favourite.

seriousandloyal · 14/05/2020 17:03

They are all nice names, Imogen is my favourite of the four.

moonset · 14/05/2020 17:09

Isla is really common now so not keen. I like Isobel. But Imogen is the most striking and unusual I feel. Iona does not work with certain surnames so you have to be careful. Sounds very like Fiona too.

Hannah, not keen.

SneakersandSocks · 14/05/2020 17:15

Imogen- Lovely, my favourite on the list.
Isabel - pretty but very popular..lots of potential nicknames which is cute , except Izzy, which is horrible.
Hannah- nice sounding but quite boring
Isla- not sure about this name
Nina - I don’t like it, the sound is quite harsh.

Lifeaback · 14/05/2020 20:25

I like Imogen and LOVE Nina, such a strong but also pretty name. The others on your list are a bit dull/over popular IMO

user1487755366 · 14/05/2020 20:33

I love Isla, Hannah and Nina.

I'm not mad about Isobel and Imogen.

Peridotty · 14/05/2020 20:37

Imogen- I used to like it but not anymore after someone said it sounded like a medicine.
Isabel- very pretty but common! I would have called my baby Isabelle but it's too common for me.
Hannah- nice name, but not v special
Isla- very common but pretty!
Nina - my favourite out of them.

DollyParton2 · 15/05/2020 07:27

Love Nina and Isabel

TildaTurnip · 15/05/2020 07:32

All nice except Imogen which sounds clunky to me. Also really dislike, ‘Imo’

Ineedabreak19 · 15/05/2020 07:32

I know an Iona and she's very smart and independent plus she is the only one in the entire school. Whereas there's several girls called Hannah, Imogen, Isabel & Isla in each class. I think your husband should reconsider Iona again. The other names are lovely but Iona imo is quite special.

userabcname · 15/05/2020 07:34

I really like Isabel. Even though it's popular I wouldn't say it's over-used in my area.
