Apricity for a girl

Found this word in the dictionary meaning the warmth of the sun on a winters day. Thinking it would make an excellent unusual girls name, particularly one born in the winter months. Thoughts?

Someone I know works at a company called Apricity

SoftBlocks · 08/05/2020 13:11

I would have to say no.

eurochick · 08/05/2020 13:16

It sounds like a product name one of the teams on a The Apprentice would have come up with.

Ellmau · 08/05/2020 14:25

A nice name for a Business. Ideal for winter sun holidays perhaps. Not for a child.

peperethecat · 08/05/2020 14:47

@eurochick Yes! That's exactly what it sounds like.

Monkey500 · 08/05/2020 22:24

@booboostwo why would I make this up? I hardly ever comment unless it's relevant and this is. It's a lovely name, with a lovely meaning, we all think it's great.

Monkey500 · 08/05/2020 22:27

@stairway I think people are being very mean, it's lovely and the Apricity we know is lovely too.

nonicknameseemsavailable · 08/05/2020 23:35

it made me think of Aapri facial scrub...

saraclara · 08/05/2020 23:43

Sorry, no. It's either a utility company or a mash up of April and Felicity. Either way it'd be really hard to live with.

And anyway, who's even slightly interested in what anyone else's name means? I don't give it a second thought. A person's name is just their name.

Hippopotas · 08/05/2020 23:48

Reminds me of Apricots foe some reason

MrsSchadenfreude · 08/05/2020 23:54

I know someone called Velocity, so why not Apricity?

Douberry · 08/05/2020 23:55

No way. It's awful. Go for April or Avril or Felicity?? Go for an actual name.

FamilyOfAliens · 09/05/2020 00:02

@booboostwo why would I make this up?

Why does anyone make anything up? Because they can. Especially on an anonymous forum.

madcatladyforever · 09/05/2020 00:03

As a word it is a lovely thing but as a name not so much. It will be shortened to prissy.

Edenember · 09/05/2020 01:16

I’m not keen because personal taste... but I’m also not fond of loads of traditional/established names because personal taste.

GlamGiraffe · 09/05/2020 01:22

Sounds like some kind of shower gel of other toiletry product. Apricot inspired. Do you remember Aapri facial scrub...similar name. Also reminds me of a city in april...april city.

Nice meaning but it sounds like too many other things to be a name in my mind...then again, if you love it, have it.

GlamGiraffe · 09/05/2020 01:31

Blimey, if you call a child that and they google it all they will find are dozens of pages on fertility treatment and ivf followed by some on learning difficulties and the rest on CBD oil. That's a very unusual search haul!

Rubybluesy · 09/05/2020 01:43

Just no
Choose a proper name

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 09/05/2020 17:05

Agree, it sounds like a corporation not a person. Child won't thank you for it.

Aclh13 · 10/05/2020 02:15

Nope, name sounds too mathematical and stressful also kinda reminds me of stress sweating

TimothyTerrible · 10/05/2020 02:20

No, doesn’t sound nice, bad nickname potential, lifetime of hassle having to tell people how to spell and pronounce it. And does sound like it should be a power supplier company, give it a few months and it very well could be (they pop up all the time).

Chimpd0g · 11/05/2020 00:04

Sorry it sounds like one of those awful team name on the Apprentice

zscaler · 11/05/2020 08:06

I love the sentiment of it but the sound is a bit harsh and awkward to my ears.

toughgetsgoing · 11/05/2020 11:14

middle name OK

TinyTear · 11/05/2020 11:18

Google tells me it's a Fertility clinic, maybe people would think she was a success story from there
