Found this word in the dictionary meaning the warmth of the sun on a winters day. Thinking it would make an excellent unusual girls name, particularly one born in the winter months. Thoughts?

It sounds like you couldn't choose between April and Felicity.

Bloodylegoeverywhere · 08/05/2020 07:08

It's awful, sorry. Why would you do that?

Mummyoflittledragon · 08/05/2020 07:33

Bloodylego
My take would be a combination of hormones and the current societal need to be “original“... ironically to be nothing but as all the slebs are at it.

Othersvoices · 08/05/2020 08:10

First thing I thought was Apricot
Second thing was Electricity.

It's a harsh name and doesn't look or sound good imho. Sorry.

whatausername · 08/05/2020 08:10

Do you not care about your child? Why lumber her with such a moniker?

whatausername · 08/05/2020 08:12

I went to search the word online - it came up with a fertility clinic and a dental lab.

NailsNeedDoing · 08/05/2020 08:15

It sounds like you liked the word electricity and tried to somehow turn it into a name. It would be ok for a company, not so much for a child.

TheVanguardSix · 08/05/2020 08:20

It does not have an attractive sound to it at all, despite its meaning. It's just not a nameworthy word. Sorry.

MrsMop1964 · 08/05/2020 08:24

I think it sounds like the name of a uility company unfortunately

Spirali · 08/05/2020 08:25

Makes me think of an acidic apricot.

FeedMeSantiago · 08/05/2020 08:32

Never come across the word apricity before.

Tesni is a Welsh girls name which means 'warmth from the sun'. It's pronounced TESS-nee.

JacobReesMogadishu · 08/05/2020 08:36

I think a lot of people would pronounce it apri- city.

overnightangel · 08/05/2020 09:09

Tesni is no better to be fair
Unless she already has a sibling called Teselbow

Lostvoiced · 08/05/2020 09:47

If you're ok with them being called Prissy then fine.
It's a bit too precious for my tastes but to each their own.

tillyteatowel · 08/05/2020 09:48

Sounds like an electricity supplier.

Don’t do this to your child.

April is a lovely name though!

BlueGreenYellowRed · 08/05/2020 09:51

No

CaryStoppins · 08/05/2020 09:53

I like the meaning but did initially think you'd mashed April and Felicity together!

Maybe a good middle name though? Olivia Apricity or Charlotte Apricity etc

noideaatallreally · 08/05/2020 09:53

That's rude - Tesni is a fairly popular Welsh name.

riotlady · 08/05/2020 09:56

Sounds like a yoghurt drink Confused

ohdannyboy · 08/05/2020 09:59

No sorry - she will spend the rest of her life spelling out to people.

walkingchuckydoll · 08/05/2020 10:00

Sounds like a disease to me. Sorry.

TimeWastingButFun · 08/05/2020 10:04

It does sound a bit like an electric company name...

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 08/05/2020 10:05

The verb is "apricate", she could go by Cate then. Grin

It had a nice meaning, but I don't think it's well-known enough for me to not think you've made it up (for example, Tiptoe wouldn't be a usual choice, but people know the word).

Chipperfish · 08/05/2020 10:08

sounds like a deodorant
Try Apricity - for all day freshness

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 08/05/2020 10:09

The should say "people to not think". I did know, because I was once on a thread with a poster who had Kate as part of her screen name and wanted to change it, and we came up with all sorts (CorusKate, ApriKate VaKate etc)
