Hi, I’m due our baby boy anytime now,
My partner has his two names. However I am not keen as I like unusual names

Do far

Cassius- gone of this now as I didn’t realise it was so common.
Elyas - Arabic version
Kaidan Arabic
Tareyon
Dante
Amari
Zakiyon
Ishiah
Trey
I like unusual names, I have a daughter already her name is Arabic.
My box will be of mixed heritage this is why I need a beautiful different name
Please feel free to send more ideas/ names
Thanks

I like Cassius, I don't think it's popular it's not in the top 100 for NZ, AUS, UK & Wales, Ireland, Scotland and USA.

K1mberlylauren · 07/05/2020 23:57

Oh really. Quite a few ladies on this forum have Cassius on there list now probs stole my names lol put me of now !

Didn't you have another thread going recently ?

In your list I like Elyas.

Outside your list, here are a few names I like but wouldn't dare to use :

Cyrian
Marius
Horatio
Gaheris
Tycho

Malysh · 07/05/2020 23:59

If you like Cassius maybe Cassian then ? Or Caspian ?

K1mberlylauren · 08/05/2020 00:07

Yeh I did but couldn’t find it.

I like elyas still, thanks there lovely I haven’t heard them why couldn’t you use ? X

Kaidan (pronounced Kay-den?) is very popular in these parts so if you're after "unusual" I wouldn't use that. Similarly with Amari which is a popular girls name here - I know 3 under 16.

Cassius is my SIL's dogs name, she gets asked quite regularly if he's named after Mohammed Ali 🤔 Not sure if that would bother you.

I like Elyas and Ishiah but have'nt a clue if I'm pronouncing them right! I have to correct spelling/pronunciation of my name all the time and would quite like to start a phone call/meeting with something other than "okay Ms... sorry can I just check how to say that?" it drives me mad so I'd consider that too.

123Dancewithme · 08/05/2020 00:17

I like Cassius and Amari best.

yatapina · 08/05/2020 00:23

Sorry forgot to say Dante is my favourite from your list :)

Also unusual (here atleast) but not too out there how about:
Tyrone
Jameel
Julian
Channing
Curtis
Phoenix
Maurice
Ezekiel

Can you tell I'm shit with names 🤣

BruceWilllis · 08/05/2020 05:04

We have very different taste!

Cassius - isn't common at all. It's nice.
Elias is a much better spelling and would be the best on your list.

Dante
Amari
Ishiah

Hi if you’re looking for Arabic names that work well in English check out:

missmouse101 · 08/05/2020 07:36

Kaidan- definitely not. Shock
Dante is my favourite.

Haz1516 · 08/05/2020 07:44

If you want something that others won't have then avoid Kaiden - I've taught a few children called this so it's not uncommon. I like Dante and don't mind Zakiyon.

Other suggestions of unusual names I've come across:
Leonus
Rayan
Sion (said sy-on)
Cyprian
Tion
Micah

Letthemysterybe · 08/05/2020 07:48

Cassius- well, I’ve never met one so I don’t honk it is remotely common! It’s probably one of those names that make it on to a lots of people’s long lists, but then they aren’t actually brave enough to use it!

Spirali · 08/05/2020 08:27

Nobody has stolen Cassius from you lol. It’s been a popular suggestion choice for years on this site!

FeedMeSantiago · 08/05/2020 08:50

OP has your husband agreed to consider any of these names? Because if he's still adamant on Christopher or Alexander then you two of you need to be focusing on finding a compromise name which is a bit unusual for you (but probably not as unusual as you'd like) but is also not too unusual for your DH (but probably more unusual than he would like).

K1mberlylauren · 08/05/2020 08:52

Thanks for your ur suggestions guys x

Ughmaybenot · 08/05/2020 08:52

Cassius isn’t that common, I’ve personally never met or heard of any, and it’s a lovely name.
I also like Isaiah.

FeedMeSantiago · 08/05/2020 08:54

Sion is a Welsh name pronounced Seán. There may well be a name of the same spelling in another culture pronounced differently, but if you're anywhere near Wales people will assume it's Sion as in Seán. Worth bearing in mind depending on your location.

Cassius is the nicest name on your list. Elyas and Ishiah are also nice. I'm assuming the latter is Arabic for Isaiah.

K1mberlylauren · 08/05/2020 08:54

@FeedMeSantiago
He has said when baby arrives we can discuss together.

@Letthemysterybe
That’s exactly how I am feeling you have to have to be brave to give an unusual name ! Lol
