Not a fan as know a few 'old posh boys' with it.

MikeUniformMike · 03/05/2020 20:04

Probably more popular than you think.
It's fine unless you can't say R.

YouSetTheTone · 03/05/2020 20:10

I love it! I have one. He’s my third boy and the one I get the most ‘oh I like that name’ comments on. I wanted to use it each time but turned out he was the one it ‘fitted’ (for various reasons).
I think a Rory could be a poet or a rugby player - it’s an ‘open’ sort of name. It also suits both a boy and a man.

  1. Nothing special.
  2. Sounds like a name for a dog.
AgeLikeWine · 03/05/2020 20:16

Rory McIlroy is one of the world’s best known sportsmen and a national hero on both sides of the Irish border, so it’s not surprising it’s a very popular name at the moment.

Grufallosfriends · 03/05/2020 22:36

You won't know whether your son can pronounce his Rs. Wowy sounds pretty bad.

AppleKatie · 03/05/2020 22:41

Is it worse than Sarah said with a lisp?

People don’t shoot down anyone who suggests that.

Honeyroar · 03/05/2020 22:44

I like it. I had a beloved lab called Rory (half my username).

JaneJeffer · 03/05/2020 22:44

Love it.

Sb131216 · 04/05/2020 01:29

I like it, mainly because it never seems so popular like archie, Alfie, Jack or Oliver but never so unpopular or unheard of that it's mispronounced etc.

MikeUniformMike · 04/05/2020 16:03

R names are very popular, especially on here.

Rufus, Reuben (and various spellings ), Roman, Rowan, Rohan, ...

He could be one of many.

Grufallosfriends · 04/05/2020 17:05

Is it worse than Sarah said with a lisp?

Yes, much worse.

MikeUniformMike · 04/05/2020 18:02

Between me and my friend he'd be Wowy or Vovy.

notacooldad · 04/05/2020 18:08

It was going to be the next name for the son I didnt have!
I love it.

SoftBlocks · 04/05/2020 18:14

Nice.

Ash06 · 06/05/2020 14:16

Found out today I’m having a baby boy so Rory is a definite contender 💙

We have a Rory. We love it obviously.

Malysh · 06/05/2020 21:54

Not keen as I find it difficult to pronounce.

But obviously I'm in the minority here so if you like it go for it !

Whatsyourflava · 06/05/2020 22:52

Congratulations on your little boy @Ash06

TheRoyallingStones · 06/05/2020 22:56

Love it!
