It is my sons middle name, after his grandad. We like it too and it goes well with his first name

FizzyGreenWater · 07/04/2020 16:34

Sorry, not a fan! Also American slang for penis, if that bothers you?

mous · 07/04/2020 16:41

Unless her surname is 'Pecker' don't think it's a problem...GrinGrin

I adore the name Peter. Maybe it's because of reading Narnia as a child but has associations of strength, virtue, leadership etc to me.

glotterbug · 07/04/2020 16:42

I love the name Peter, I would have used it had I had a boy.

finallychangedmyusername · 07/04/2020 18:45

I love it, and would be really pleased to see it on a little one. Peter Pan, Narnia, Peter Rabbit references are all wonderful (you could get given a lot of name-related gifts for a newborn Peter!) Grin

Quicklittlenamechange · 07/04/2020 18:48

Sorry but its terribly dull

NB Im saddled with an old fashioned dull name .

Thisismytimetoshine · 07/04/2020 18:48

Yes, love it.

Greenvilla · 07/04/2020 18:54

Really awful. Quite a weak dated name

IVflytrap · 07/04/2020 20:16

I really like it and have done for quite a while. Don't know any boys with the name yet.

87Callista · 07/04/2020 22:32

Great, strong, classic name. I am a fan of both Peter and Pete.

123Dancewithme · 07/04/2020 23:35

Love it!

Clotho55 · 07/04/2020 23:41

Peter is an easy name for small boys to spell and it's traditional, with Biblical connotations - if that's your interest/inclination - and it isn't all that common. There are variations of Peter in French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian as well. HTH

BackforGood · 07/04/2020 23:49

Yes, lovely name.
Ticks all my boxes when thinking about 'good' names Smile

MrsHoolie · 08/04/2020 00:59

Lovely name and not very common which is good!

Aquamarine1029 · 08/04/2020 01:02

Absolutely hate the name Peter. Weak and ineffectual.

Hannah021 · 08/04/2020 01:04

No :( it makes me feel old

AuntyAnna · 08/04/2020 11:54

Not old enough yet to be cool I don't think. But lovely as a family middle 😃.

I like it. Also like Pete. My elderly neighbour is a Pete and he's brilliant so it has positive associations for me.

I'm nearly 40 and know quite a few Peters and Petes my age.

Boireannachlaidir · 08/04/2020 12:08

Hadn't heard it for ages and actually really like it Smile

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 08/04/2020 12:17

Where on earth is the word weak coming from here? It means rock! Saint Peter, Peter the Great, Peter O'Toole, Peter Ustinov, any number of other famous Peters, none of them weak characters. Great name, I'd be delighted to see it making a comeback.

Whatsyourflava · 08/04/2020 12:19

My opinion is that yes it was dull about 40-50 + years ago @Quicklittlenamechange bit nowerdays it’s very refreshing sounding and totally underused. I know one little “Peter” and his name actually really stands out as being special in amongst all the “Alfie”, “Albie” and “Archie”s. I think sometimes I often forget that names sound totally different to the next generation. To them, names like “Alfie” will be dull, whereas at first to me it sounded fresh and new

Peter is definitely due a comeback @lessness please use it! Although I’m slightly jealous I didn’t pick it.

MikeUniformMike · 08/04/2020 16:23

Love it. Know several - some Peter, others Pete. Good solid meaning.
Friends have a little boy called Peter and he's gorgeous.

Chickoletta · 08/04/2020 16:30

I love it. Can’t use it as it’s DH’s business partner’s name!

FizzyGreenWater · 09/04/2020 13:56

Gaspode, it does sound weak somehow though! Must just be something about the sound? I always think of it as a weak name too.

TeaMilkNoSugarThanks · 09/04/2020 16:42

it might be the mental connection with something 'petering out'.
