Is this good or nah?

I know some nice Garys. Gary Barlow and Gary Neville are ok (probably a bit more than OK), Gary Kemp, Gary Oldman, Gary Lineker... what's not to like?

Nope! And I say that as someone with a DH and a FIL Brian. DS has it as a middle name but that's as far as I was willing to take it.

It would be very amusing to call a baby Brian, but no.

I don't understand the dislike - it is similar to Ryan.

In the same way that Harry is good, but Barry is very, very bad.

Ryan was nice when it was quite unusual, then Ryans and Chloes were absolutely everwhere, both names seemed a bit overpopular.

Brian makes me think of Brian Aldridge, Brian May, Brian Cox. Good associations.
