Caspian I think, just because Caspar is so trendy at the moment, I'm not sure it will age well. Lots of Caspars and Jaspers at baby groups near me, but haven't heard any little Caspians

Caspar.

Whatsyourflava · 08/03/2020 16:35

@namesneeded the caspars you’ve met must be a bit of a statistical anomaly then! Casper is outside the top 300 and Caspar outside the top 600 names - there’s barely any - even names like Alan are more popular!

I much prefer Caspar to Caspian as Caspian to NMMR is too frilly and feminine and with 3 syllables will definitely be shortened to Cas which sounds too much like Gas for me

hurryupautumn · 08/03/2020 16:36

Caspar

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 08/03/2020 16:39

Caspian! Sounds so romantic and dashing

Casper = friendly ghost

INeedToGetHealthy · 08/03/2020 16:41

Caspar will usually be incorrectly said as "Casper the friendly ghost"
Caspian is not all that well used and seems ok to me.

KoaLove · 08/03/2020 16:51

Caspar Smile

PrimeraVez · 08/03/2020 16:53

I’m biased but I have a 1yr old Caspar and I love it. Anecdotally I’ve heard of a few others in the area but haven’t actually come across any yet.

It sometimes gets abbreviated to Cas which I also like.

DramaAlpaca · 08/03/2020 17:15

Of the two, Caspian. It sounds like a romantic hero.

No spelling issues as there could be with Caspar/Casper.

BathshebasBane · 08/03/2020 17:17

Caspian ♥️ I wish DH would have let me use it

Sandsnake · 08/03/2020 17:17

Absolutely love both. Possibly Caspian, if I had to choose.

SquigglePigs · 08/03/2020 17:20

I really like both. I'd probably lean to Caspar but I'd struggle to tell you why!!

Cindie943811A · 08/03/2020 22:38

Caspian is definitely preferable to Caspar

ginandnappies · 08/03/2020 22:39

I'm sorry but I think of the ghost when I hear Casper.

Yellowcakestand · 08/03/2020 23:04

Definitely caspar

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 08/03/2020 23:27

Like the Caspian Sea?

daisypond · 09/03/2020 01:25

Caspar. Caspian's a fictional character invented for the Narnia books, and a sea. I don’t dislike it, though.

Astronica · 09/03/2020 01:34

I love Caspar. I'm not keen on the ian sound ending of Caspian, Damien, Adrian.

Jossina · 09/03/2020 05:55

Caspian sounds great. Very dashing.

bluemoon2468 · 09/03/2020 06:27

Thanks so much everyone 😊 I also (sort of) think Casper the ghost but I think it might be a generational thing, because I asked my young niece and nephew and they were like 'who is Casper the ghost?' and had never heard the name before. Even I'm a little young for it tbh, having been born in the early 90s - I think it's more something I've just heard of culturally rather than something I've ever actually seen.

Where do you live OP? Caspian is quite a large chain of pizza takeaways around here.

Caspar is very nice though.

bluemoon2468 · 09/03/2020 11:39

@Badabingbadabum I'm in the South East. I've never heard of the takeaway chain!

Must be a Midlands one then! You should be alright!

Still prefer Caspar though, and I agree that the "friendly ghost" connections will not come up at school as it is too old a cartoon now.

KittyJune · 09/03/2020 15:04

Caspian is amazing!

Emeeno1 · 09/03/2020 15:13

Caspian. From Prince Caspian by C.S.Lewis. A beautiful name.
