Due DC2 soon, like Annie for a girl but someone recently described it as a bit chavvy. Opinions?

No! It’s lovely.

katy1213 · 06/03/2020 11:26

Not exactly chavvy but a bit like a Victorian scullery maid. So C19 chavvy?

Sexnotgender · 06/03/2020 11:27

No! It’s lovely though I prefer Anna.

Thisismytimetoshine · 06/03/2020 11:28

I prefer Anna too, truth be told. But Annie is lovely too.

forkfun · 06/03/2020 11:35

No, it's lovely.

ChristineSmith74 · 06/03/2020 11:36

Nah mate. I'm a mother of 5. Would never name a child Annie, reminds me of the orphan from the musical

Thisismytimetoshine · 06/03/2020 11:37

What does having 5 children got to do with the price of fish? 🤣

ChristineSmith74 · 06/03/2020 11:39

Mate, you calling my kids fish?

Thisismytimetoshine · 06/03/2020 11:41

Why are you trolling baby names? Hmm. Of all topics... 🤷🏻‍♀️

Callingallbutterflies · 06/03/2020 11:42

Great name!

ChristineSmith74 · 06/03/2020 11:42

I'm not, this was my genuine thought

CaffiSaliMali · 06/03/2020 11:43

I don't think it's chavvy at all. I prefer it as a nickname I.e. for something like Anna, Anneliese or Anastasia.

Aneira with Annie as a possible nickname, and also Eira as a possible nickname is on my list (Welsh). I definitely don't think it's chavvy!

AmandaBall · 06/03/2020 11:43

I think one of the most chavvy names is probably Callum or Kyle

Honeybee85 · 06/03/2020 11:43

I’d prefer Anna, when I hear Annie I think of the musical. It’s a cute name but for a child IMO.
She can always use Annie as a nickname.

Robs20 · 06/03/2020 11:48

I love it. I’m 30 weeks and planning to call twin A Annie :)

Gwilt160981 · 06/03/2020 11:52

Annie was my Nans name. She was born in 1919 along time before the word chav came along. Ignore them.

BertieBotts · 06/03/2020 11:54

No, not at all!

Pipandmum · 06/03/2020 11:55

No it's cute but sounds like a nickname.

HeronLanyon · 06/03/2020 11:56

I love Annie. Would not/have not ever think anything negative about it.

MikeUniformMike · 06/03/2020 13:43

Annie is lovely. The Ann+something names like Annelise tend to be too frilly for me.

Aneira is just Ann+eira. Ruins two lovely names.

Isthistrueor · 06/03/2020 13:43

Not at all.

123Dancewithme · 06/03/2020 13:51

No, it’s lovely.

Etinox · 06/03/2020 13:57

It's lovely-
Give her a name it can the short form for.
Anastacia
Annabelle
Evangeline
Pandora

bookmum08 · 06/03/2020 14:01

Annie from the musical is one of the happiest and positive people ever despite her beginnings in life (being abandoned at an orphanage). She seems to see the good in almost everyone (even Miss Hannigan in a way) and changes the life of a grumpy lonely millionaire. She even cheers up the President when his. country is in a depression with her happy perkiness.
If you want to name a child after a character - Annie is a good one.
It's a lovely name.

timetest · 06/03/2020 14:02

It’s a lovely though it does sound like a shortened version of a longer name.
