I think we are set on our girls name but boys name really struggling with, so far on our list we have:

Otto
Bertie
Casper
William

What are people's thoughts on them? And any similar ones we might quite like?

Thank you Smile

They're all lovely but I was just musing to myself yesterday about a Bertie I know...sweet name for a baby/ little boy but I don't feel like it would suit a teenager

Cucumbersalad · 28/02/2020 16:39

But that's down to my lack of imagination/ not knowing any! Still a nice name Smile

PlantPotting · 28/02/2020 16:51

Love all 4 😍

PlantPotting · 28/02/2020 16:51

But Bertie my least favourite

emmathedilemma · 28/02/2020 17:02

I wouldn’t use any of them apart from William.

IceColdCat · 28/02/2020 17:03

In order:
William
Casper
Bertie
Otto

somanywateringcans · 28/02/2020 17:09

Really like Casper and Otto but not keen on the other two

Quizeerascal · 28/02/2020 17:38

I find Bertie tricky too in that it doesn't sound like it would suit a teenager/man. I like it as a nn for Albert though. The other three are good names although William does seem to be v popular. Other names that could work...

Felix
Lucian
Lucas
Oscar
Jacob

Poetryinaction · 28/02/2020 17:43

William is fab.

MikeUniformMike · 28/02/2020 17:46

Otto - no
Bertie - no
Casper - prefer Caspar or Caspian
William - the best on your list

ShesGotBetteDavisEyes · 28/02/2020 17:48

My dsis has a daschund called Otto - so for me it’s a sausage dogs name!
Bertie sounds a bit silly, I suppose he could shorten it to Bert when he’s older
Not sure about Casper.
William is the best.

BackforGood · 28/02/2020 17:49

William is quite nice.

Agree with first response that 'Bertie sounds like a nick name for a tiny tot. Would you consider giving him the name Albert , so he has options as he gets older?

Can't think of Caspar as being anything other than a ghost.

Otto is very Germanic / Nordic, and seems a strange choice unless that is your heritage.

TrippingOnSunshine · 28/02/2020 17:51

William. So bored of Otto and Casper so trendy at the moment. If you want Bertie why not use Herbert then he can be Herbie which is cooler imo.

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 28/02/2020 17:52

All nice. Otto seems quite popular at the moment, and I’m less keen on Bertie unless it’s short for something.

Caspar is my favourite of the four.

Spied · 28/02/2020 17:55

I don't like any.
The most useable for me would be be William. Inoffensive but a bit boring imo.

Rocketinapocket · 28/02/2020 18:03

Bertie nice as a shortening for Albert.

Rocketinapocket · 28/02/2020 18:04

Then he could be Albie. Or Herbert as suggested.

DoctorBambino · 28/02/2020 19:44

Otto - like it, seems to be increasing in popularity
Bertie - not keen
Casper - it's ok but makes me think of the ghost
William - meh

Squirrelpeanutbutter · 28/02/2020 19:45

I love William.

DramaAlpaca · 28/02/2020 19:46

I like William but hate the others.

helpmum2003 · 28/02/2020 19:49

What about Robert. Can be Bertie/Bert/Rob/Robbie.

reginafelangee · 28/02/2020 19:50

I like William

The rest are fine.

Dyra · 28/02/2020 20:48

I like Otto the most, with William being a distant second. I prefer Jasper to Casper, but don't dislike Casper, I'd put it on par with William. I don't like Bertie at all.

Oddly I thought Ralph would suit your list. No idea why.

pilates · 28/02/2020 22:14

William is the best one

NameChange30 · 28/02/2020 22:20

They're all quite different

My favourite is Casper
William is classic, slightly boring but inoffensive
Bertie is very "of the moment" cutesy old man names, I'm not a fan of the trend
Otto... fine but strong German association and I would find it a bit strange if he didn't have a German parent or grandparent - does he?
