I've been thinking alot about Jeffrey lately. Yes it's a bit dated, but I still think it's a lovely name and Jeff could be quite cool in a retro chic kinda way, no?

Thoughts?

I like Geoffrey and Geoff. My mum used to have a little phonic rhyme for it that stuck in my head. I don’t know why. A Gyh, an eh, an oh and two fuffs!

There were lots of Jeffreys and Geoffreys when I was at school and I used to dream that I would one day have a son with that name.

But that was in the 1960s. Don't care for it now - seems really old-fashioned.

bitheby · 29/02/2020 02:01

Instantly reminds me of the old Toys R Us adverts.... "millions of Jeffries all under under one roof" (was never sure if the actual lyrics

There's millions, said Jeffrey, all under one roof. It's called Toys R Us, Toys r Us, Toys R Us.

I have an uncle Geoff and I work with a Geoff.

It's fine.

I prefer George.

MySonIsAlsoNamedBort · 29/02/2020 02:09

Love it. Love Jefferson more.

Bezalelle · 29/02/2020 05:54

Perve name.

daisypond · 29/02/2020 06:57

I like it. Prefer Geoffrey maybe. I know a lovely teen one.

chipsandgin · 29/02/2020 13:07

Thought Bungle & Zippy when I read it (‘ooooh Jeffrey!’). then got the whole Epstein/Dahmer thing. Maybe Jefferson as pp suggested, slightly less 70’s creepy TV presenter/serial killer & could still be shortened to Jeff?

Nowayorhighway · 29/02/2020 14:01

Geoffrey is my FIL’s name and DH desperately wanted to call DS it but I wouldn’t even entertain it. It’s the name of a middle aged man like FIL, not a child.

Boireannachlaidir · 29/02/2020 14:36

Geoffrey yes, never Jeffrey.

Gigitree · 29/02/2020 14:43

Jeffree star is an insanely rich and successful YouTubed/ beauty guru/ make up mogul / business man in America, so I expect the name will become more and more popular!
He’s quite controversial though so just worth thinking about that.
Personally I like the name though!

Passthewinebottle · 29/02/2020 14:59

I love Jeff or Jefferson but absolutely not Jeffrey.

JenNtonic · 29/02/2020 15:16

LOVE it. Classic and strong

CanIhelpyouatall · 03/03/2020 11:13

My partner is called Jeffrey, shortened to Jeff. He said don't do it! He likes Jeff but hates Jeffrey. He was born in the 70s so by then it had gone out of fashion.

kateandme · 03/03/2020 11:46
