Thoughts on Jeffrey

I've been thinking alot about Jeffrey lately. Yes it's a bit dated, but I still think it's a lovely name and Jeff could be quite cool in a retro chic kinda way, no?

Jeff is quite cool sounding like Ned or Sid. But Jeffrey is awful.

It just reminds me of the meme from 21 Jump Street 'My name's Jeff'.

No-one in our house can hear 'Jeff' without referring to it.

Oh it’s my dads name - spelt that’s way too.
My dad does not an anorak or wear nylon suits. (Well he may have done in the 70’s!)

He’s a cool guy! He’s kind, generous, funny, has loads of friends and is well respected in the community.
It’s about time there were more cool guy Jeffrey’s in the world!

To be fair, OP, no-one will give a crap once you've named him. He'll just be Jeff, and no-one will question it or laugh at it. It's a normal name.

Jeff has an entirely different feel to Jeffrey (better).

I know an 11 year old Geoffrey. I will not lie... when the name was announced everyone went Hmm but then there have only been compliments. Because it is unusual, respectable, and actually pretty cool. I really like the name.

Oh and someone mentioned Gregory upthread. I know a 9 year old Gregory (never shortened) and he totally rocks. Fabulous kid.
