Lola

OH has thrown Lola into the mix and I can’t decide if I like it or not. I don’t hate it, our DD1 has a short two-syllable name and generally I prefer those over longer/fussier names.

Just looking forward get general thoughts. Middle name is Jean. Thanks :)

Short for Dolores which means pain.

I like it but know a few dogs called Lola which would put me off rather than the rather old fashioned thinking of stripper/prostitute. How about Lyla/Lila as an alternative?

I know a Lola. I don’t like it but I’d never say to her mum that I don’t. It sound like a nickname or every times I hear someone say her name, my head goes “tastes like cherry cola.”

It’s a bit try hard I think. Like the name someone gives themselves when they want to make it in showbiz and start playing the local pubs with a shit band. Or a drag name. Too much thought has gone in to this.

It doesn't really sound like a real name, IMO - more like a nickname that a prostitute or stripper would adopt as a stage name.
I certainly wouldn't use it for a child, although I guess it's just about ok for a dog.
