Imogen, Lorna or Sophie

Hello, was hoping to get some opinions on the following girls names for our little one due in a few weeks:

Imogen
Lorna
Sophie

Middle name would ideally either be Margaret (or an associated name such as Megan, Greta or Pearl), Isla or Heather as they are all family names.

Thank you!

I don't like any, but would choose Lorna if I had to.

Imogen is so harsh and unfeminine and Sophie is dull from overuse.

Ch3m · 13/02/2020 14:09

Lorna is lovely

SirVixofVixHall · 13/02/2020 14:09

Really like all of those ! Sophie Pearl works better than Sophie Margaret perhaps, but the others work well with Margaret as a middle name, or others out of your choices.

Good start Confused i did ask though so appreciate your feedback

Actually now I am saying Sophie Margaret out loud, I like too, sorry not more helpful !
Love the name choices as classic but not overused or at all twee.

thaegumathteth · 13/02/2020 14:11

There are so many Sophies which would put me off. I'd choose either of the other two though. Imogen Heather?

BobbyBlueCat · 13/02/2020 14:16

I really dislike Lorna.
It sounds horrible, looks horrible and reminds me of the 1970s.

I think Imogen and Sophie are both very pretty.

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 13/02/2020 14:17

Imogen Greta
Lorna megan
Sophie pearl
Sophie Margaret.
Lorna megan is my favourite.
Lorri as a nn, if you want one?

userabcname · 13/02/2020 14:18

I like Sophie best. Sophie Margaret sounds nice I think.

newtothis20 · 13/02/2020 14:19

I quite like Imogen Greta (even though I don’t have that many combinations of first names and middle names in my shortlist, for some reason I hadn’t really thought about this one!)

I like all 3 actually - I think they’re quite classic, pretty names. I know an Imogen and she’s very cute. Lorna is the most unusual at the moment - I wouldn’t think there’d be any others in her class!

newtothis20 · 13/02/2020 14:21

And I like Sophie Margaret!

For some reason, someone else suggesting something works better in my head

Imogen always sounds medicinal to me. Lorna is forlorn. Sophie is soft and feminine.

Batqueen · 13/02/2020 14:22

I like Imogen and Sophie, really dislike Lorna

Singingatmidnight · 13/02/2020 14:22

Imogen is lovely - strong and feminine. Sophie is nice but I knew lots growing up, so it's less fresh to me. I wouldn't choose Lorna personally, but there's nothing wrong with it.

Lyricallie · 13/02/2020 14:26

I really like Imogen but I think that's because one of my favourite books has a character called Immy.

Upsidedownfrown · 13/02/2020 14:27

I have an Imogen in the family. Love her name! It's shortened to Immy by her friends and Ginny but her parents (and Immyginny or mimmy by her little bro)

Whatsyourflava · 13/02/2020 14:56

I love both imogen and Sophie
Hate the sound of the name Lorna . Just really dreary and nn Lorn like Lawn? Nah. I’d cross that one off.

GrumpyHoonMain · 13/02/2020 14:57

Sophie is a beautiful name. I like Sophia / Sofia too.

user1494055864 · 13/02/2020 15:01

Imogen is a beautiful name, but used quite a bit. One in every year group in school.

Sophie is really over-used, probably 2 in each class.

Lorna is unusual.

Mamabear88 · 13/02/2020 15:02

I like Sophie the most. Everyone's saying it's overused but i've only come across baby Sophias, no Sophies. I LOVE the name Isla but Sophie Heather sounds the best combo to me.

TypicalMeBreakMyTypicalRules · 13/02/2020 15:42

Love Lorna

TatianaLarina · 13/02/2020 15:44

Love Imogen. Way too many Sophies and Sophias. Really dislike Lorna.

Like the dim Mimi.

Imogen Heather or Imogen Margot

damnthatanxiety · 13/02/2020 16:07

BobbyBlueCat was there a Lorna who did you wrong 😂 how does a name 'look' horrible?

Whatsyourflava · 13/02/2020 16:12

@user1494055864 imogen used much less in 2020 than it used to be in say 2010. According to the official stats the name has been on a downward trajectory for past 10 years. No Imogen’s in the baby groups round here which I wasn’t suprised about given the fall in numbers. Infact the name is about to fall outside the top 50 now.
I’m a name geek sorry x

I love the name Imogen and also love Sophie 🥰
