Melody and......

We have a Melody. We're looking for a girls name. We have a boy name (Barnaby) but are struggling for a girl's name and we won't find out until baby's born!

We actively don't want Harmony, Aria or any other obvious musical name.

We like less usual names. I teach so all the popular names I have met babies and children with those names, they're "taken" in my mind.

Other than that.... any suggestions please?

@ikeakia it’s a nice name but with all the brexit stuff you know that “remainers” are constantly called “Remoanas”. It’s all over the news and now in common use. I’d imagine it will get into the oxford dictionary soon. It would instantly make me think of brexit if used in the uk.

I met a Melody once whose twin was called Melanie. But that's a bit daft.

midsomermurderess · 28/01/2020 18:52

Ooh, what about Penelope. Same 'ee' sounding ending but very different.

Krazynights34 · 28/01/2020 18:58

Oh I just saw two names I love and had forgotten ...Melodie and Joy. (Doubt it could get better)

@DramaAlpaca Cecilia is the patron Saint of music. It's a lovely link to Melody.

I like Mary, classic, not overly popular and has a similar sound to Melody.
Or Marian.

CatteStreet · 28/01/2020 20:03

'Cecilia. It's nice with Melody but not obviously musical.'

This - 'obviously' being the operative word - St Cecilia is the patron saint of (church) music, but not too many people know that.

CatteStreet · 28/01/2020 20:04

Oh, for some reason I didn't see the last post before mine Blush
