We need a new name.

I put a thread on AIBU about this because I'd had so many threads re names on here that I thought you'd be heartily sick of me.
We had chosen (with lots of help from you) a name for our ds who arrives in April.
We recently found out that ds has DS and dh didnt want to use the name we'd picked because he felt it was wrong for this baby. I was furious about this but one of the posters on AIBU said that children with DS often have problems pronouncing words with 2 consonants together. The name is Bram.
So we've moved the goalposts again and are trying to think of an easy to say/spell name preferably biblical cos my other 3 dc have biblical names ( not religious just like them)
Dh likes Seth (I'm not keen) I'm going round in circles. I know logically the biblical thing doesnt matter but I dont want this little one to be the odd one out.
Family members called Samuel, Isaac, Joshua, Peter, Noah, Benjamin and Matthew. I liked Adam but a "helpful" friend said not good because of A dumb. I cried about that. Really looking forward to baby and will adore him obvs. Any ideas?

A dumb. Seriously? What a fucking horrible person.

I was coming to throw my hat in the ring for Jonah or Jacob but I see you’ve chosen something :) I bet you can’t wait to meet the little darling x

A dumb? Seriously?

I have just asked 2 Adams and neither of them have ever heard or been called that.

OrchidJewel · 28/01/2020 10:40

I have no suggestions you'd like but I too have a dude with DS, he is 8 now and has no problems saying his name, which isn't easy tbh and something I never thought of at the time as he was diagnosed at birth. We had a 1 syllabul name all the way through, it just didn't suit him and chose one with 2 in the end, can be NN to 1. He is so used to hearing and saying, some kids in my circle have massive names and never a problem, I do however agree with Seth could cause problems with the TH, and could end up SEF, it's lovely though. My son can't prounce M so there is a girl in his class he calls Ebba Grin

Most of my pals kids have excellent speech and comprehension, mine doesn't but we use sign language and people are fascinated and all his class, teachers, everyone close use it and love it, makes him very cool and I'm proud Smile

Your friend is a dickhead

McCormacksGirl · 28/01/2020 10:43

@spiderlight, isn't it? Smile

SageRosemary · 28/01/2020 10:57

David

Nonnymum · 28/01/2020 11:01

I think the A dumb comment is horrible and ridiculous too. Who would even think that apart from your friend?
I have a brother with Downs who have speech difficulties so I can see why you want a name that is easy to pronounce and easy for other people to recognise if he does struggle pronouncing it. How about
Daniel (Dan)
Peter
Amos
Luke
Michael
Joshua (Josh)
Jacob (Jake)
( but sometimes J can be difficult to pronounce)

Nonnymum · 28/01/2020 11:11

Sorry I have just seen you have chosen a name. Which is great
Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and your baby when he arrives.

doritosdip · 28/01/2020 11:35

Adam would only get teased if his gf or sister was an Eve imho.

TheReef · 28/01/2020 11:56

Samuel (Sam)
Gabriel (Gabe)

Jessbow · 28/01/2020 13:40

Chocolatecake12 · 29/01/2020 22:54

Joseph instantly sprang to mind.
It’s a similar sound to your Dhs fave of Seth but has the very cool and easy to pronounce Joe as a nn.
Good luck choosing a name!

TatianaLarina · 29/01/2020 23:45

A dumb is not a thing.

Ignore him if you like Adam.

Personally I like Zach/ary, Gabriel, Jasper and Jude.

Traditionalwife · 30/01/2020 09:00

I like Josiah and Elijah.Flowers
