Rory, it's a lovely name 😊

MrsBertBibby · 22/01/2020 22:04

Rory, Reggie is hideous.

Tatum1234 · 22/01/2020 22:05

Rory, Reggie is awful.

Astronica · 23/01/2020 02:49

Definitely Rory.

misspiggy19 · 23/01/2020 02:51

Rory is far nicer.

Reggie is great for a dog

miamiibiza · 23/01/2020 02:55

Rory

BBInSleepsCounting · 23/01/2020 03:33

100% Rory.

Tyrozet · 23/01/2020 03:41

Reggie reminds me of the Krays or a character from Eastenders.

I know a Rory and he is a lovely young man, very accomplished and well liked. It's a great name.

mrssunshinexxx · 23/01/2020 05:33

Veryyyy interesting thanks ladies

Don't like Rory personally but it's a fine name.

Reggie is awful. I hate half hames. Reginald would be fine.

Rachel345 · 23/01/2020 07:22

Rory has 2 Rs. Some people struggle with their pronunciation and Rory would be very difficult to say.

BusterGonad · 23/01/2020 07:38

I dislike Reggie, it's tacky imo

katee90 · 23/01/2020 07:50

Neither but Rory at a push

Mumbassa · 23/01/2020 07:51

Rory

Blackbear19 · 23/01/2020 07:54

Rory.

Reggie reminds me of the music. It's also too close to Raggie and an easy nickname for kids to pick up on.

CircleofWillis · 23/01/2020 11:09

Rory. Again the Krays connection would be too strong for me.

Kokeshi123 · 23/01/2020 11:13

Reggie is awful, sorry. Any name with a double G in it (Maggie etc.) just looks so ugly and oafish.

Rory is a great name.

Whatsyourflava · 23/01/2020 11:24

Has it helped you decide @mrssunshinexxx ?

FizzyGreenWater · 23/01/2020 11:42

Rory definitely.

Rory: I think of a slightly rugged outdoorsy type with rumpled hair.

Reggie: I think of the Kray twins.

Also - Reggie is popular right now and I think it will date far more. It's one of the 'old man name given the diminutive to make it sound cooler' type names. See also: Stanley (Stan) Wilfred (Wilf), Ronnie, Frankie, Freddie etc.

Bluerussian · 23/01/2020 11:45

Rory (or Ruari).

I cannot imagine a child called Reginald, sorry to all Reggies out there but makes me think of Bosenquet and Reggie Kray. Also had a cousin who married a Reg and he was old and bald before his time.

bananamonkey · 23/01/2020 11:50

I met a toddler Reg the other day, just no 😬

diddlediddle · 23/01/2020 12:01

Seems like you prefer Reggie an are hoping people agree!

I think Reggie is fairly awful I'm afraid - firstly its a nickname for Reginald and not a name in its own right to my mind. I don't like boys names that end in ie because they are so twee and a man may want a more solid longer name as an option. And lastly Reggie is a trendy name at the moment and will date badly.

Rory is more classic.

mrssunshinexxx · 23/01/2020 13:43

@whatsyourflavour .. helped a little but don't think will fully commit until I meet baby but I appreciate everyone's comments

@diddlediddle maybe you are right 😏 but it has swayed me a little towards Rory .. only time will tell when I see the little face

If you prefer Reggie choose Reggie. Mumsnet always veers towards the more classic names and isn't a fan of nicknamed 'ie' names, but Reggie is a perfectly acceptance name and the Kray thing won't be relevant to his generation.
I have a Rory so prefer that but Reggie is nice too.
