A lot of people struggle with their Rs. And Rory has two!

5LeafClover · 24/01/2020 13:48

Reggie. I like it I've known a couple as DC have gone through school as they've been lovely. I like Rory too but not as much.

aneliese · 24/01/2020 14:43

I love Rory! Not a massive fan of Reggie

Bezalelle · 24/01/2020 16:25

Rory is a bit wet, while Reggie sounds like a wellie squelching through manure.

mrssunshinexxx · 24/01/2020 16:52

@Bezalelle helpful.

This might help

Crunchymum · 24/01/2020 18:12

Funny how Ronnie doesn't seem to have such a strong Kray's connotation?

Sorry, no help as I'm not a massive fan of Rory or Reggie (or Ronnie)

Jesskir89 · 24/01/2020 20:04

I'm having a reggie and as pp said most of the next generation won't even know who the krays are....

williams345 · 24/01/2020 20:07

I don't like Rory
My nephew is called reggie I thought of the Krays at first but now never do !!

Todler12345 · 24/01/2020 20:34

i hate the name the person he sat on my child was called that?

Lazydaisydaydream · 24/01/2020 20:39

I know a baby Reggie and I have never once made the Kray connection and as far as I know no-one else has ever said that to the parents Smile

DickDewy · 24/01/2020 20:45

Reggie is just terrible. Nothing to do with the Krays, it's just in the same group as Kai/Kayden/Jayden/Shay imo.

cece636 · 24/01/2020 20:48

Rory.

raspberrymolakoff · 25/01/2020 04:22

I gather Reginald is coming back into fashion and younger people won't make the same association. I'm always in favour of giving the whole name though so I'd used Reginald and shorten to Reggie. I don't love it though.

Rory I like a lot and know two little ones but it's not overused round here. Any Scottish background would be my question. Not vital but it suggests it. He will have to spell it as there is also Ruari (sp?) pronounced the same way so if your surname is one you have to spell that might put me off.

mrssunshinexxx · 25/01/2020 06:56

Thanks for the helpful comments @raspberrymolakoff , easy surname to spell and definitely wouldn't register him anything other than Reggie.. if it's a boy will be back to update in a week or so after my scan

@mrssunshinexxx what girls name have you picked?

mrssunshinexxx · 25/01/2020 07:35

@BettyButtercup sorry I don't want to say as we are 100% set and before this thread I thought I was on boys name 😂 only put a thread up because loved both x

Yestermost · 25/01/2020 07:40

Sorry I find Rory a very wet name. Reggie isn't great!

BettyButtercup · 25/01/2020 08:29

@mrssunshinexxx fair enough 😊 you do you though, don't let the opinions of strangers on the internet change your mind if you love it x

Tombliwho · 25/01/2020 12:32

I prefer Rory but don't really like either. The 'old man' trend of names is so overdone. Toddler groups are full of Ronnies, Reggies, Franks and Alberts. Yeuck.

BasilOfBakerStreet · 27/01/2020 22:31

Reggie is an absolutely horrible name and I cannot for the life of me understand why it's getting so popular.
It will always have strong Kray connotations to anyone who's read more than two books, and outside of that it's not even a nice or quirky sound.

Rory is adorable and I have always loved it, DH has vetoed it which I don't think I'll ever forgive him for that Grin
