Lovely name.

I have 2 nephews (different sides of the family) who are Matthews or I would have used it myself.

One gets Marty and one is always Matthew he goes mad if anyone tries to shorten it.

Thank you all for the lovely feedback. X

Lovely classic name

Lllot5 · 14/01/2020 14:18

I’ve a Matthew love it. But I’m biased.

RustyBear · 14/01/2020 14:19

My Matthew is Matthew Stuart; he does generally get called Matt, but I like that too.

Shakirasma · 14/01/2020 14:20

I know a Matthew He is 7 and a really lovely lad. His middle name is Henry, which I think goes very well.

DollyDaydreamss · 14/01/2020 14:20

Safe and dull

What @DollyDaydreamss said.

We know a Matthew Joseph.

He was Matthew until he started secondary school and became Matt. But he's still Matthew at home.

debbs77 · 14/01/2020 14:24

My son is a Matthew (his surname is actually one of the first suggestions above for a middle name!). Never shortened. He prefers Matthew to Matt. THE nicest boy ever

ellenpartridge · 14/01/2020 14:28

Nice classic name, can't go wrong. Middle names could be Alexander, Joseph, George, Henry, Oliver, William, Ellis, Samuel.

IdblowJonSnow · 14/01/2020 14:30

It's a very steady, timeless name. He will become Matt tho, or possibly Maff depending where you live!

Marinetta · 14/01/2020 14:33

Love Matthew. So many possibilities for middle names.

MapMyMum · 14/01/2020 14:40

I know a teenage Matthew and he has never been shortened either. Lovely classic name, will never date

Peridot1 · 14/01/2020 14:43

Love it but I’m a bit biased! Mine is gorgeous. Grin All 6ft 2 inches of grumpy teenager that he is.

We call him Matthew but he is Matt to his mates and was at school. I like either but tend to stick with Matthew mostly.

ReallyLilyReally · 14/01/2020 15:05

Im married to a Matthew Philip John, he's Matt mainly, and i love the name

IdleBet · 14/01/2020 15:10

I've never taken to Matthew, just reminds me of somebody wet. Door Matt.

Love James though.

twilightcafe · 14/01/2020 16:08

Matthew is a fab name. Some say dull. I prefer timeless and classic.

Our Matthew is definitely not a Matty, Matt or anything else.

74NewStreet · 14/01/2020 16:11

I like them both.

EoinMcLovesCakeJumper · 14/01/2020 16:15

Where do you live? Will it turn into Maffew in the local accent? That's the only thing that would put me off, but I like it otherwise. Although after reading this thread, it has now stopped making sense and looks like a random collection of letters Grin

frankincenseandmur · 14/01/2020 16:16

I love it. It works for every age and is very classic

PulyaSochsup · 14/01/2020 16:21

My daughter’s partner is Matthew, known as Matty. I prefer Matthew, but he’s a lovely person.

Sittingonthefenceagain · 14/01/2020 16:21

We live in Putney in London @EoinMcLovesCakeJumper.

I have a Matthew. Now 8 only just being shortened by friends.. Mostly to Math... Some to Matt... He doesn't mind so I go with it.. Often still Matthew tho...

Skyejuly · 14/01/2020 16:26

I have a 14yr old Matthew. I've always said Matthew. Never Matt! I like it. Suits old and young.
