New name for baby girl 🙄

We were settled and so happy with the name Dulcie-Mae Reign for our 3rd baby, 2nd daughter but I told my cousin who had a baby girl last week once we’d decided. She has now named her daughter Dolly Mae, so we can no longer use the name Dulcie-Mae as they are very similar. I should’ve learnt after I told everyone the name of my first daughter before she was born and a friend used the middle name as a first name. But the kids are now besties so it’s quite cute Isabella Ivy and Ivy Mabel. Anyone have any ideas for a new name for her as we can’t find one we love as much as Dulcie 💖 thanks huns

Just call her Dulcie and drop the Mae.

Clangus00 · 01/01/2020 22:32

Mae is horrible and soooo overused. I also don’t like double barrelled names.
Call her Dulcie and use May as a middle name. No one uses middle names anyway.
Dulcie is lovely btw.

PlantPotting · 01/01/2020 22:41

Can’t STAND hyphenated names - please just use one name like 99% of the population

Dulcie is nice will think of some others

Dontsayfuckorbugger · 01/01/2020 22:51

Just use Dulcie absolutely no need for the overused 'Mae' part of the name. Theres far too many something-Maes but not many Darcies

Go with Dulcie (Dolly is ridiculous and not that similar). I agree with pp drop the awful Mae, find another middle name and you're sorted.

IVflytrap · 01/01/2020 23:00

I agree with pps, keep Dulcie on its own (no Mae).

Dulcie Reign (though I much prefer Raine).

MrsBertBibby · 01/01/2020 23:13

Yes to dropping the -Mae bit. Not mad on Dulcie myself, but it's a million times better than Dolly! Reign isn't generally a name, Raine is better, I think!

carbo · 01/01/2020 23:23

Is Dulcie pronounced as 'Dull C'? If so that's really terrible.

Whatsyourflava · 01/01/2020 23:24

Darcy? Nancy?

Savannahmarie · 01/01/2020 23:47

I think I will stick to my guts and call her Dulcie I think we’ll drop Mae now my cousins used it and I was never 100% sold on it as it was my partners idea. Reign/Raine/Rayne as a middle name or any other ideas 💖

Confused
SleepingStandingUp · 02/01/2020 00:38

Ddef drop Mae. Dulcie May Reign over what? How) I'd stick to Dulcie Raine or Rayne. Not Reign as in the Queen does

Biggirlspantson1 · 02/01/2020 00:44

Dulcibella. Xxx

MustardScreams · 02/01/2020 00:48

Dulcibella is not a name and would be something a plastic doll with horrid shiny hair in bright pink packaging would be called.

TokenGinger · 02/01/2020 00:54

I think they're taking the piss with the Dulcibella suggestion...

What is this obsession with hyphenated names or spelling names differently to how they should be spelt? It's bloody awful and common (as in used by commoners rather than common as in popular).

I agree, dropping the Mae/May is best. Some lovely suggestions for middle names in the responses.

BackforGood · 02/01/2020 00:58

Glad that you have decided not to call her a sentence - why would anyone do that ? Confused

Use the name Dulcie.

Astronica · 02/01/2020 01:00

Dulcie Raine would be lovely.

Isadora2007 · 02/01/2020 01:02

Dulcie is just not a nice name so I think the baby has had a lucky escape. What about Darcie?

sleepingkat2020 · 02/01/2020 01:34

please dont call a child dulcie. its cruel. with or without the chavvy mae part added.

tobee · 02/01/2020 01:48

Dulcie is a name. It's a lovely name. It a Latin name meaning sweet and is a diminutive if Dulcibella.

I've got know idea why people are insinuating that it isn't. Or is cruel. Hmm
