Thoughts please on this girl’s name?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
DramaAlpaca · 25/11/2019 23:10

I really like it.

SlightlyBonkersQFA · 25/11/2019 23:11

I thought of the zika virus as well.

I like zyla though.

bookmum08 · 25/11/2019 23:23

I know it from NCIS. I remember the character saying she wasn't fond of her name because it's a 'grandma' name - ie old fashioned. The Israeli version of being called Doris or Joan perhaps Grin
Perfectly nice name.

Shylo · 25/11/2019 23:26

I have a colleague with a DD called Ziva and I love it, beautiful strong name .... and it’s never once made me think of Zika!

Omashu · 25/11/2019 23:29

You know, Zika would actually make a great name if it wasn’t for the virus!

Redshoeblueshoe · 25/11/2019 23:31

NCIS

Bluerussian · 25/11/2019 23:37

How about Visa?
No, don't like Ziva particularly but the meaning is nice: “radiance, brilliance, light, God, brightness”.

schafernaker · 25/11/2019 23:53

Zosia is my absolute fave! Much better option 😊

MollyHuaCha · 26/11/2019 00:12

Zena

runoutofnamechanges · 26/11/2019 00:22

How about Zivi, which is an alternative form of the same name? I knew one growing up who was cool, beautiful and clever.

MzPumpkinPie · 26/11/2019 00:30

I know a beautiful woman called Shiva.
( she-va), absolutely love her name.
Not sure about Ziva though.
It does sound like a virus or prescription medication to me.

Pieceofpurplesky · 26/11/2019 00:40

I love Ziva and the alternative Xiva

dreichwinter · 26/11/2019 01:35

I did think of the virus first.
Sorry OP.
Otherwise I don't think it is a bad sounding name.

Willow2017 · 26/11/2019 02:28

I love it, and it's meaning.
If I was starting again (by some miracle) it would be on my list.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 26/11/2019 09:56

How are people getting the Veee Vaaaa sound mixed up with Zeee Kaaa?

I think it's beautiful and exotic. The NCIS character embodies it's sense of mystery well. Love it.

DLaderBeal · 26/11/2019 10:01

Zivi is lovely! Thanks for all the thoughts. I’ll have to look up this NCIS association, good by the sounds of it?

Ziva is gorgeous ... also like Vashti

CaptainCabinets · 28/11/2019 00:50

I know of no fewer than three dogs named Ziva. Pretty but it’s a dog’s name to me now!

RolytheRhino · 28/11/2019 07:13

I know of no fewer than three dogs named Ziva.

It is very shoutable. "Zeeeeeeeevaaaaaa!"

runoutofnamechanges · 28/11/2019 15:29

You could (legitimately) spell it Zivah instead of Ziva so it doesn't "look" like Zika and people don't make the association, particularly as it isn't pronounced to rhyme with Zika. A at the end of a female name in Hebrew can be transliterated as -ah or -a eg Sarah/Sara.

Zivia/Zivya (gazelle) is another alternative (that also has many different ways to transliterate it).

Bananablueberry · 28/11/2019 17:35

I also know a dog called Ziva but do think it's a lovely name. Love Anouk

FenellaMaxwell · 29/11/2019 16:05

I like Noor and Anouk. I’m afraid I also think Zika.

KittenCuteness · 30/11/2019 13:49

I don't like it, sorry OP. (I didn't think Zika, though!)

I like Anouk and Zosia. I had a lovely Polish aunt called Zosia.

AdalindMeisner · 30/11/2019 14:50

I like it. There was a character in Ncis called Ziva. She was a real tough character. The name is from Israel I believe.

WeshMaGueule · 30/11/2019 20:57

It's slang for a hoodie in French, if it matters.
