I absolutely love the name Willa. DH likes it to, however mentioned it to my mum and she laughed. Sad is it that bad? My DS is Arthur.

It's not a strong name. It's whispy and a blah sound.

ilovechocolatebiscuits · 30/11/2019 10:44

Not sure where all these people are getting 'wet' and not pretty from.

I think it's such a strong pretty name I love it

MissHenty · 30/11/2019 10:46

@ilovechocolatebiscuits completely agree. It’s just perfect!

NoSauce · 30/11/2019 10:52

It’s subjective. A lot of posters think it’s weak but then those who love it think it’s wonderful. Such is life.

confusedyoungthing · 30/11/2019 19:04

Willa is very pretty! Go for it :)

helpiamstressedbuthey · 30/11/2019 21:23

I adore this name and would love it for dd my DH says no! Go for Willa I say, it is such a lovely and different name

Bluerussian · 30/11/2019 21:37

How about 'Willard'.

Cinammoncake · 30/11/2019 23:09

If you've got a London accent it could sound like Willow. But also there'll be lots of calling her Willy at school and sniggering, that's just what kids are like. So it's a no from me, sorry.

TabbyMumz · 30/11/2019 23:13

Awful name.

tabbiemoo · 30/11/2019 23:15

Much prefer Willow personally. I always think of Wilma when I hear Willa. I don't like either.

ilovechocolatebiscuits · 02/12/2019 01:24

@Cinammoncake I don't think that's the case. My husband is Will and he's never been called willy in his life

Cinammoncake · 02/12/2019 19:58

But Willa sounds more like Willy than Will does imo

SchadenfreudePersonified · 02/12/2019 21:18

My NDN is called Willa.

Short for Wilhelmina.

She's very nice, but I don't like either name.

Leopardprintboots · 02/12/2019 21:35

@Cinammoncake

William literally has “willy” as part of the name!

Willa does not.

I adore the name Willa. 🤩

Sh05 · 05/12/2019 09:25

I've never heard of it and agree It might become a teasing point at school.

Leopardprintboots · 05/12/2019 09:35

Hasn’t become a teasing point for the Willa I know

One of the main female characters in new Tv show Succession is called Willa (she’s stunning and makes me love the name even more)

Cbeebiesrehab · 05/12/2019 09:50

90% of names have teasing potential. If kids are going to be mean they are going to be mean-whatever you call them.

Leopardprintboots · 05/12/2019 16:13

Agree @Cbeebiesrehab you really can’t predict the names that are going to get picked on. A friend of mine was called wendy and constantly got called Wendy house and called fat and “size of a house”. Another friend with surname Pratt was left alone! You’d just never predict.

Cbeebiesrehab · 05/12/2019 21:06

Exactly @Leopardprintboots you can’t let rubbish kids jokes put you off a perfectly lovely name.

s3tut0y3r · 06/12/2019 22:49

It is a lovely name and goes well with Arthur

wonderwooman · 06/12/2019 22:56

I love the name Willa - much nicer than Willow 💕
