I absolutely love the name Willa. DH likes it to, however mentioned it to my mum and she laughed. Sad is it that bad? My DS is Arthur.

VenusClapTrap · 24/11/2019 17:26

It’s ok. I’ve heard worse.

Eventrider1 · 24/11/2019 18:27

I really like it. Suggested it to my DH for our name list but he said no 😩

pumpkinpie01 · 24/11/2019 19:19

I know a Willa , I wasn't sure of the name at first and thought it would get mistaken for Willow but it never has and it really suits her.

SemperIdem · 24/11/2019 22:25

I like how it looks but I’m not so keen on how it sounds.

Sugarfreejelly · 24/11/2019 22:28

Gorgeous name

NoSauce · 25/11/2019 06:50

What is it and this ridiculous name?

@WineOrGin thank you!!

@dancingunicorns123 it’s not ridiculous - it’s amazing

NoSauce · 26/11/2019 12:56

It’s ridiculous imo. Obviously others think differently. It seems like a made up name to me. I know it’s not though. I just don’t like it, sorry.

PetraRabbit · 26/11/2019 13:11

In honesty, I don't like it - it sounds awkward to me when spoken. But it's getting popular with the hipster type so won't be too odd or unusual for her if you do go for it. I know a baby Willa.

Maywedding · 26/11/2019 13:40

I really dislike it. There is nothing pretty sounding about it and it is awkward sounding to me.
It's a very weak sounding name that should continue to Willow or something more robust.
It makes me think of Will.i.am Grin so maybe that's a plus.

elderlee · 26/11/2019 14:04

I haven't heard it before but think it's lovely, if you love it then go for it!

NoSauce · 26/11/2019 14:06

Yes it’s weak sounding to me too and like it’s unfinished somehow.

Leopardprintboots · 26/11/2019 14:10

Will you let us know if you go for it @dancingunicorns123

I think you should
I’ll have serious name envy though

NoSauce · 26/11/2019 14:13

Why do you want to know? Seems over invested.

Ilovewillow · 26/11/2019 14:14

I think it's lovely! We considered it but went with Willow instead. FWIW I don't think it will be confused with Willow.

Helenlegs · 26/11/2019 14:26

I’m not a fan. I’m imagining having to sort out the upset at getting called Willy esp when children are going through that stage around 5 when they seem to find anything to do with human reproductive parts and poo/ wee etc hysterical.

To me it has an unfinished sound to it too and people will also address her as Willow by mistake i think.

Leopardprintboots · 26/11/2019 14:43

William is the most traditional acceptable name you can get and that actually has the word Willy in it- Willa does not

@NoSauce oh dear am I a bit too keen 🙈🙈 I just love hearing updates of what people decide. Especially when lots of us have taken the time to reply. It’s quite a polite thing to come back and update but obviously no obligation. Apologies if I’m too invested OP xxx 😊

TheFreaksShallInheritTheEarth · 27/11/2019 00:46

I think it’s absolutely hideous. Truly awful. I’ve never quite been able to get it’s popular on MN.

AntiStuff · 27/11/2019 11:15

How about Wilda instead? I know a couple of small Wildas and think it's so lovely.

Shmithecat2 · 27/11/2019 11:20

Love it. I know a little girl called Willa, cute as a button.

Mamabear88 · 27/11/2019 12:37

Never heard of it before, not keen tbh sorry....

geojojo · 27/11/2019 12:59

I know a little Willa. I don't love it but it's unique and sounds strong. The Willa I know sometimes gets called Willow accidentally.
