DS is George

The only other boys name is Peter which everyone hates Grin

Girls names I like are Emily and Annabel

What do you think and can you suggest any others?

DS is George David

Others with middle names would likely be:

Peter John

Emily Anne

Annabel Mary

VanyaHargreeves · 19/11/2019 22:07

I think both Peter and John merit a comeback

Emily too popular

VanyaHargreeves · 19/11/2019 22:08

Annabel = horror movie doll

BlueEyedFloozy · 19/11/2019 22:09

I like Peter, never been a fan of John but not for any particular reason.

I like Emily and Annabel, both are quite popular here but tbh that doesn't really bother me.

KSxx · 19/11/2019 22:09

seem to like quite original names

I love George one of my personal favourites

I also really like Henry?

Henry John? Goes together nicely

MyKingdomForBrie · 19/11/2019 22:10

I really like Peter.

DramaAlpaca · 19/11/2019 22:11

I really like all those names, unusually for me!

Peter is lovely, an underused classic.

SausageSimon · 19/11/2019 22:12

Only on Mumsnet do people like Peter!
In real life everyone looks at me in horror when I say but I can't see me going off it Grin

It reminds me of nice things like Peter Rabbit and Peter Parker! They think of old men I think

John is my dads name so I'd love to use it as a middle name if I have another son

Oh I quite like Peter.
Emily to some blah! Too many, so bland to me

I prefer Isabelle to Annabelle

ThunderR0ad78 · 19/11/2019 22:14

I have an Annabelle, Emily was on my list too - both lovely names.

Boys names I had James, Edward, Thomas & Daniel.

ThunderR0ad78 · 19/11/2019 22:14

Oh & Joseph!

BackforGood · 19/11/2019 22:19

I like the name Peter too.
Who are these "everyone" who 'hate' it ?

But similar names to George and Peter....... what about
Thomas
Jacob
David
Daniel
Steven
Mark
Robert

I do like the name Emily, but I do think there are a lot of Emilys about, and have been over last 20 - 25 years

Not keen on Annabel

Omashu · 19/11/2019 22:25

Ooh sorry but they’re all awful! Especially Peter.

I suppose Emily is okay but painfully boring.

EmmaC78 · 19/11/2019 22:27

I like Peter too. Someone at work has a young son called Peter and i have always thought it is nice.

Tillygetsit · 19/11/2019 23:36

Peter is lovely.

MissHenty · 19/11/2019 23:36

Peter is cool 😎

Grandmi · 20/11/2019 00:01

I like Peter...my father and cousin are both called Peter .

SausageSimon · 20/11/2019 07:55

Thank you for all the suggestions! Smile
I like all of the boys name ideas but none of them feel right like Peter does. So I suppose that ones sorted!

Any more suggestions along the Emily and Annabel line?
I like classic and traditional names but I do struggle with names for girls!

Annabel would be Annie for short

I like names like Matilda and Beatrice but wouldn't use them

I like Peter John, prefer Annabel to Emily (although nothing wrong with Emily). Annie is nice for short. Matilda is lovely, I don't know why you wouldn't use it unless it doesn't go with your surname.

BlueChampagne · 20/11/2019 12:48

Susan
Lucy
Celia
Clara
Fiona
Rowena

Leopardprintboots · 20/11/2019 13:13

Edith (Edie)
Delilah
Margaret (Maggie)
Imogen
Beatrice

Why not Matilda OP @SausageSimon - it’s a gorgeous name

FizzyGreenWater · 20/11/2019 14:33

I can't get past Peter being slang for penis, I know that's not a big thing though. It is a bit meh too - it's just not meh at the moment because it's unusual. Timothy and Jonathan I think have the same feel as Peter and are much nicer.

Emily is so boring.

Annabel - prefer Isobel, but straight up Anna is even better - the absolute classic.

merryhouse · 20/11/2019 15:09

I've never heard of Peter being slang for penis.

How about Simon? (Peter's original name Grin)

Susannah
Adelaide
Eleanor
Dorothy
Lydia
Rosalind

Leopardprintboots · 20/11/2019 15:26

I never heard Peter being slang for that 🤣 I’ve got a peter in my family and it’s never been mentioned. It’s a fab classic namd

BikeRunSki · 20/11/2019 15:30

I love Peter. It’s DS’s middle mane, after a brilliant person, so I obviously have positive connections with it, but I still think it’s a great name, and due a comback. John too. I know many Johns who are in their 50s, and only a couple younger - one is about 40, one is 9.

emilybrontescorsett · 20/11/2019 20:33

Annabel is lovely.
I really like John and Peter.
