Lovely names! And particularly like Valeria.

Xanthe is my favourite and I like the suggestion about Valeria as a middle name, to keep the family tradition.

Violet and Valaria would be my favourites. Quite like Maeve but not keen on the rest. I suppose it depends on the circles you mix in, but round here you'd be constantly spelling out the others.

I think most of them are a struggle to pronounce. If you don’t mind you and your daughter having a lifetime of correcting people then go for it.

Elodie Valeria would be my choice from your list.

Ianthe - Eye-Anthee? Yanthee? Eye-Anty?
Elodie - A bit nothingy and likely to be overused. Melody is nicer
Violet - ok. A bit too close to Vile and Violent for me.
Valeria - family name - not keen

The list looks a bit try-hard apart from Violet. I do like Xanthe and Fleur, but think that others won't.

Elodie - really chavvy. Lots of kids called Elodie-Rose, Elodie-Mae round the dodgier parts of my hometown.

Valeria - I just think of G.O.T and valerian steel. Also sounds a bit like an STD.

Xanthe - really pretentious. Literally would cause me to eye roll and you’re setting your child up for a lifetime of people misspelling and mispronouncing their name.

Elowen - I actually quite like this. Feminine, easily pronounced but not common

Violet - sounds too much like violent for my liking. However, I do know a lovely girl called violet who shortens it to Lettie.

Gentian - seems very masculine

Xanthe is a bit too close to xantham gum. She’d have to be gluten free!
Valeria - malaria/valerian.

Xanthe is the nicest. Fleur is quite sweet. Don't like the rest, particularly Elowen (L.O.N) and Maeve (very OAP ish) Iolanthe and Lowenna are nice instead?

That's a good list! I like Xanthe, Ianthe, Maeve and Valeria best. Not keen on Gentian or Elowen.

I like Violet (my granny!) and Elowen best. Don’t really like the others tbh. Elodie is very popular on MN for some reason. I hate it. It sounds like elodea, which is pond weed.

Valeria is pretty, definite middle name if you don't use as the first name.

Xanthe - I love the sound but I'm really not a fan of X's in names (I don't know why). I like the look of Zanthe but I'm not sure it's right

Fleur - I like it in theory and have met a few but never met one where I think their name suits them

Maeve - love it but prefer Mavis

Gentian - erm... Never heard of it, can't say I'm a fan

Elowen - beautiful name,. I also like Olwen

Ianthe - prefer Zanthe

Elodie - it's OK, I feel a bit Meh about it

Violet - pretty but I've met quite a few

Valeria - family name - nice as a middle name. I like Valerie

Elowen keeps turning up these days. I like it, and Fleur.
