Evangeline or April

I realise these are two very different styles of name, and probably also not v popular but I like then both!
What do you think? Oh, for a dd that will probably be born in April, so that might be a bit twee 🙈

Evangeline is so pretty and elegant. I also love greek names so a bit bias there.

Fookadook · 31/10/2019 22:06

Really dislike April.

CassandrasCastle · 31/10/2019 22:39

@purplepandas good to know! Do you find yourself having to tell people you prefer to use the full name, or is it quite natural.

Sad that April is quite strongly disliked; I'm odd about it myself, bit up and down.
Grace has been suggested as another option but I'm not massively keen because I know an odd one...

@CassandrasCastle, generally people are fine and I don't need to explain. Some people ask if it shortened but more out of interest. They don't ask her.

A hard one when it comes to learning to write their name btw! That never occured to me.

VenusClapTrap · 31/10/2019 23:19

I love April! Fresh and pretty.

Evangeline will just become one of five Evies in her class at school.

DariaMorgendorffer · 31/10/2019 23:23

I prefer April.

Astronica · 01/11/2019 02:53

I prefer April out of those 2.

Primrose
Clementine
Clemency
Margaux
Philomena
Allegra
Lucille

I adore the name Evangeline but for some reason all I can think of right now is 'miss vaaaaaanji vaaaaaaanji'

Evangeline or April
PandasMum · 01/11/2019 03:14

April is lovely

CassandrasCastle · 01/11/2019 12:10

@Astronica Clemency and Clementine were both on my list, but DP just laughed at them Angry

I so want to see April as fresh and pretty as someone described it...I want to love it!

It is a little bit twee but I actually love April.

mistermagpie · 01/11/2019 12:44

What about Genevieve? It's a bit the same vibe as Evangeline?

CassandrasCastle · 01/11/2019 13:26

Hm, a friend had a Genevieve v recently so I don't think I'd want to go with that - it's v pretty though!
DPs favorite name is Emily. It's nice, but I just can't imagine my own dd being an Emily...he is pretty concerned about kids being bullied because of their names, like anything rather out of the ordinary is going to be an automatic target for extreme teasing. (He rejected Juniper because of this, fair enough I suppose Grin Still love it though!)

I don’t like either sorry. April is so old fashioned and not in a good way. Evangeline is so harsh sounding and dowdy to me.

Fookadook · 01/11/2019 13:49

How about just Angeline?

DonkeyHotty · 01/11/2019 13:50

April. Personally I can’t stand Evangeline 😖 (sorry).

DonkeyHotty · 01/11/2019 13:51

Genevieve is lovely though and miles miles classier than Evangeline

mistermagpie · 01/11/2019 15:53

Angelica? That's a bit in the same camp as the names you seem to like. Clementine is my guilty pleasure (I do think it's a bit much maybe...) but DH says no!

CassandrasCastle · 01/11/2019 17:54

Aww, is Evangeline not classy? Grin

Afraid I don't like Angelica too much, but thanks for all suggestions!

RolytheRhino · 01/11/2019 19:15

I love Juniper. DH vetoed it for DD though.

MissHenty · 01/11/2019 19:25

Clementine (clemmie) is a gorgeous name!! Please use it.
It’s not even that unusual anymore so certainly wouldn’t get raised eyebrows these days.

MissHenty · 01/11/2019 19:25

But I really love April too

NoSauce · 01/11/2019 20:39

Clemmie is dreadful! Reminds me a cross between clammy and phlegmmy. I love Clementine though.

CassandrasCastle · 01/11/2019 22:31

Oh. So dp has informed me he doesn't actually like April. Oops :/
He doesn't mind Persephone, likes Evangeline - but would want to call her Evie 😑. There are just so many flipping Evies!! At least I quite like the shortening Sephy. Ugh, he's such a pain

Seraphina

If you like the long names?
