Boys name to suit brothers

albazavi · 06/10/2019 16:00

Currently expecting DC3, and haven't found out sex yet (although expecting another boy to join DS1 and DS2).

We are seriously struggling to find a boys name that we both like. Naming both boys was really hard work as me and DH have such different styles.

I like more modern, I suppose trendier names- nothing cutesie or overly popular:

Love Jude and Elliot but have been vetoed by DH.

He likes Max and Alexander but I'm not overly keen.

What would you name a brother to Seb (Sebastian) and Rowan?

Middle name likely to be Benjamin.

Thank you

Oops just saw you're not keen on Max. Alistair (Ali)?

Rachelover60 · 06/10/2019 16:09

I don't think there is anything wrong with Elliot, sounds OK and Eli for short is lovely.

Max and Alexander are good too.

Canklesforankles · 06/10/2019 16:10

What about Xander (short for Alexander)

Canklesforankles · 06/10/2019 16:11

Elijah would be nice with Seb and Rowan

Some good suggestions- lots we've discussed already. Love the idea of Edward (Ted) but have a very close friend with a Ted, same with Jacob.

Alistair is a good suggestion. Like Ali- but feel Alistair is quite an old name for a little boy.

Would happily have Xander as a compromise, but DH only likes Alex.

He also doesn't like biblical which rules out Noah, Caleb, Elijah all which I think are lovely!

This is hard!

Sebastian, Rowan and Quentin?

What's your girl name?

Rex
Miles/Milo
Otis
Peter
Kit

Shame you don't like Max, I think it's a great name.

Also no Biblical names rules out a lot of good'uns Confused

I like Ivo but your husband would probably hate it!

Vincent?

Otherwise I think bridget's suggestions could work - Oscar, Felix, Dominic all pretty uncontroversial but still interesting and not overused.

Isadora2007 · 06/10/2019 16:32

Alistair is a fab name.
Oliver?

I like a three syllable with your other names. One is too harsh alongside Seb though if you use Sebastian more that won’t be as much of an issue. Mind you three and then Benjamin might be weird. Could you go with Ben?

Canklesforankles · 06/10/2019 16:42

Arlo
Inigo

I like Benjamin as a first name if that's an option? Also Felix, Zachary, Otis, Flynn, Matthew (Matt similar to Max?), Rex, Milo/Miles, Callum.

I have a Roan and a Fynn.

Lots of great suggestions.

I do like Benjamin a lot (was nearly ds2's name) and Benji is a cute nn. Will put it back on the list. Have a horrible Benjamin at ds1s nursery but hopefully they won't be together at primary school as well!

Agree that either a long name with a nice shortening works well.

Dominic is a great suggestion, I like Toby as well and think Tobias works well. Both going on the list.

@Grufallosfriends girl name would most likely be Imogen or Thea.

DH has thrown in Angus as a wild card! I quite like it but not sure it goes with the other two?!
