Boys name to suit brothers

albazavi · 06/10/2019 16:00

Currently expecting DC3, and haven't found out sex yet (although expecting another boy to join DS1 and DS2).

We are seriously struggling to find a boys name that we both like. Naming both boys was really hard work as me and DH have such different styles.

I like more modern, I suppose trendier names- nothing cutesie or overly popular:

Love Jude and Elliot but have been vetoed by DH.

He likes Max and Alexander but I'm not overly keen.

What would you name a brother to Seb (Sebastian) and Rowan?

Middle name likely to be Benjamin.

Thank you

There is Theo, of course.
I'm not a big fan of Angus unless there's a Scottish connection in the family?

I think Angus works really well with the brothers' names, and I also really like Dominic and Tobias/Toby. You have some great options on your list.

Atticus

I like all the names on your list, but Alexander I think is better as a middle name so i’d say:
Benjamin Alexander

Suggestions:
Miles Benjamin
Felix Benjamin
Jasper Benjamin/Alexander

autumnkate · 08/10/2019 11:11

Angus is a great choice. I also really like Benjamin.

MissHenty · 08/10/2019 12:49

I like the earlier suggestion of Dominic. Job done

MissHenty · 08/10/2019 13:58

But also like Otis Rex or Milo/Miles
Or Rudi/Rudy

How about Laurence?

Grufallosfriends · 08/10/2019 14:43

Dominic or Quentin are lovely and go well!

hardyboys · 08/10/2019 16:34

My sons are called Seb and Rowan too.

We also had a Jacob but he passed away.

Other favourite names:

Felix
Remi
Tobias
Isaac
Maxim

MrsBertBibby · 08/10/2019 18:15

Conrad
Torin

Toby is a great name. Tobias, or Tobin.

albazavi · 08/10/2019 19:33

Wow hadn't realised there had been so many replies.

@hardyboys another of the same pair! And I though they weren't that usual together. You have great taste!

Sorry about your loss. Jacob is a lovely name.

Unfortunately, Benjamin as a first name is off the cards as we have one who is being horrible to our eldest. So back to a middle name.

Love a few of the suggestions- Ellis is great, I think Miles/ Milo is really cool as well. But both difficult to get past DH.

We do have a loose Scottish connection- so Angus might work.

Current shortlist is

Xander
Alistair
Angus

Will try again with Tobias/ Toby as I think that would be a really sweet name.

Loving your shortlist alba. Probably a girl after all this...

MissHenty · 08/10/2019 22:17

@hardyboys so sorry to hear about Jacob

@albazavi try and persuade your husband on Tobias or Ellis! They are great names and I wouldn’t have thought they’re very out there. Is that his concern or does he actually want an out there name? What names does he like?
Have you decided on a girls’ name

albazavi · 08/10/2019 22:34

@Canklesforankles we've thought that every time as we always find girls' names so much easier. Girl would be Thea or Imogen

@MissHenty he tends to like more traditional names- I like something a little more out there, but also soft and gentle sounding (but also strong if that makes sense). My work means I work with thousands of children every year so like something I don't come across regularly.

I do like both of those (Toby and Ellis) and will be putting them on the persuade list. And will keep trying with Jude as I have always loved it- it's such a strong but gentle name.

MissHenty · 08/10/2019 22:44

@albazavi we have really similar taste in names (good taste 🤣!). My DH is also very traditional and loves names like Oliver (a lovely name but it’s no1 so that does put me off).

Imogen or Thea are gorgeous. I prefer imogen but love both

Def try again with Ellis or Toby or Miles/Milo

I LOVE Jude

Will you come back and tell us what you have and what you call baby x

Ludways · 08/10/2019 22:48
