Douglas (Dougie) or Kip?

As the title says...

Douglas (Dougie) or Kip

Surname 2 syllables and quite unusual.

Interested to know what others think of these names for baby. Due in a few weeks and don’t know whether boy or girl, but keep coming back to these two.

Grateful for opinions!

Kip sounds like it's a nickname, or be miss heard as Skip as in big metal bin, or Kip as in short sleep.

Douglas is OK, a fine strong name just not to my own taste.

A kip is what I call my DS's messy bedroom.

Love Douglas, also Dougal. Dougie lovely for a child or an adult, Doug too. I know several of varying ages, super name.

You can't call your child Kip. It sounds like a nickname for a Kipper 🐟!

Not Kip.

When they start school and you have to read endless Biff, Chip and Kipper books you will be grateful you didn't go with Kip.

I have a 3yo Douglas. He goes by Douglas, Dougie and Doug. We love the name and reactions have been wholly positive (but it’s not like people who hate it would tell us!)

Love Douglas. It was our second on our boys list with Dougie as a nickname. I know a Kip too. I like it but not nearly as much as Douglas.
