Just that really.
Which would you choose?
Thanks

Thanks everyone!
I'm so surprised that it looks pretty even. Doesn't help our decision but good to know both have really positive feedback Grin

And even the messages saying its not to their taste they have also been really nice and not mean at all so thank you.

I am torn between classic (imogen) and more unusual? And quirky Autumn.
I have no idea how my mum and sister would react to Autumn as its a bit 'out there' but I don't want to be swayed by them!

Really can't decide which is actually a good place to be in Smile

Mintypea5 looks like we have the same taste!

Both lovely but I prefer Imogen.

saraclara · 07/09/2019 17:59

Imogen. It's lovely and it's a real name. I'm not a fan of nouns or verbs appropriated as names.

Also Autumn is a bit depressing right now! It just means that summer is over!

AverageMummy · 07/09/2019 18:04

Imogen

Shadow1234 · 07/09/2019 18:05

Love both but would choose Autumn - has a softer sound and is a very pretty name. (My friends grandchild is called Autumn Willow, which I think is a beautiful combination).

VivianSmith · 07/09/2019 18:06

Hmm. I don’t love Autumn, feels quite American/Canadian. I like Imogen, was on our list, but in the end we don’t use it as my research showed it came from a misspelling of shakespeare’s originally intended “Inogen” in “A winter’s tale,” which he used to mean “no name” -the girl with no identity - and I decided that no matter how much I liked it I wanted a name w more meaning.

But it’s really pretty!

Jaffacakebeast · 07/09/2019 18:42

I don’t like Imogen, there was a skanky horrible woman on big brother called Imogen and I can’t help but associate

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 07/09/2019 18:50

Imogen. It's a beautiful, classic name.

As far as I'm concerned, Autumn is a season, not a name.

Newday1 · 07/09/2019 19:02

Not sure about Autumn not being a 'real name' Hmm I mean aren't all names made up?
Don't mind it being seen as an American name :)
Knew about imogen being made up by Shakespeare and actually prefer inogen but obviously not a name now.
Didn't however know the meaning. That has sorta swayed me. Thanks for the info x

Just googled inogen...

Inogen offers lightweight portable oxygen concentrators Grin

Both lovely names. I'd personally go for Autumn. I only know one. Shes very cute and independent.

indianbackground · 07/09/2019 19:09

I prefer Imogen. Autumn is a lovely name but I have a mental block on spelling it. It’s not a problem now there is spell check, but I used to spell it Autunm

icecreamsundae32 · 08/09/2019 08:44

Love both. Imogen means image of her mother doesn't it? @Newday1
I suggested both to my husband but my husband said autumn was too different and Imogen reminded him of someone on big brother many years ago!
Do you like amber? That was another one I liked that husband wouldnt go for!

Gatepost1820 · 08/09/2019 08:53

When are you due? I think a baby Autumn has to be born in Autumn. I know a girl called Summer whose birthday is in October. So if you're choosing a seasonal name then at least the baby should be born in that season otherwise it's pointless.

MissHenty · 08/09/2019 09:00

Imogen is classic and gorgeous plus SO much nickname potential

Imo
Immy
Ginny
Imm
Gen (sounds like Jen)

Astronica · 08/09/2019 09:15

I'm another who loves both so find this really hard. Not much help here but I'd edge towards Imogen today. If popularity concerns you I'd go towards Autumn though.

rachelgrace · 08/09/2019 09:37

Autumn. I love it

AmericanLemonade · 08/09/2019 09:42

Imogen, it’s my DDs name. She’s almost 8 and I adore it, she loves it too.

Becles · 08/09/2019 09:56

Imogen

GlasshouseStoneThrower · 08/09/2019 09:58

Imogen. I really don't like Autumn, but Imogen is very pretty.

Norugratsatall · 08/09/2019 10:04

Imogen! But then I'm biased as it's my DD's name....

Newday1 · 08/09/2019 10:20

icecreamsundae32 I like that meaning Smile alot. Also like Amber and Considered it. What did you go for in the end?

And totally agree. I'd find it weird to be a baby in a different season. Gatepost1820 that's just odd! Confused

What about Imogen Autumn Newday?

The two names go together perfectly.

Newday1 · 08/09/2019 10:30

MitziK love that! Hadn't even thought of that! X
