What are your thoughts on this girls name? With the diminutive Maddy.

Has anyone said the ‘c’ word yet? I’ve heard worse but it is similar to Brittany, Courtney etc.

Dated, American and a bit common. Sorry.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 30/08/2019 19:22

It immediately makes me think of the US site for people who want to cheat on their partners - Ashley Madison. Sorry.

AverageMummy · 30/08/2019 19:46

Awful - similar to Jayden & co to me
But I’m just one internet stranger - you’ll never get a name everyone likes

OooErMissus · 30/08/2019 20:18

Very 10 years ago.

And yes, why two DDs?

KezzabellaB · 30/08/2019 20:37

I like it!

TheYeaSayer · 31/08/2019 14:14

If you do go with it, at least spell it correctly!

peachypetite · 31/08/2019 14:17

Why the extra d?
I think it’s dated.

Rainatnight · 31/08/2019 14:18

If you must, but please, for the love of God, not with two ds.

maryannay · 31/08/2019 14:19

I dislike Madison/Maddison/Madeleine as they start with Mad!

HeronLanyon · 31/08/2019 14:33

As in Wisconsin, with an extra random d thrown in ? Personally i would hear it and think a bit naff/common - sorry but have to be honest. If you are American it’s slightly different.
Love maddy. Love Madeleine.
Maddison is just naff.
Your D.C. your choice. Congrats op.

HeronLanyon · 31/08/2019 14:34

I used the ‘c’ word Apols all.

Bouffalant · 31/08/2019 14:35

It's a trailer park name.

Roselilly36 · 31/08/2019 14:46

I like it. I know lots of Alison’s so I don’t think it’s odd for a girls name to end in son!

ILoveAnOwl · 31/08/2019 14:48

I've never met a nice Maddison. For me, it's one of those names I see on a register and think 'Oh bugger'...

NoodlesMcGee · 31/08/2019 14:54

Expect it will be a very common name amounts the "chavs" thanks to that pop/grime song by Not3s - Addison Lee ("penh thing called Madison...")...!

MikeUniformMike · 01/09/2019 13:47

Maddison is a surname, as is Madison. Awful as a first name.
Madeleine is nice if you want Maddie.

Pieceofpurplesky · 01/09/2019 13:50

I've taught a nice Madison @ILoveAnOwl

soapona · 01/09/2019 13:50

I personally like it but it's the chav version of Madeline. When my DM was alive it would be the kind of name she'd veto as "not shouting that across the play park".

OtraCosaMariposa · 01/09/2019 13:51

It's a bit dated. Very 1990s. And yeah, the extra D does nothing.

eccentricalice · 02/09/2019 10:12

I like Madison

MissHenty · 03/09/2019 21:01

Love it. I know MN will hate it but many outside MN love it and I do too

PeriComoToes · 03/09/2019 21:06

I like it!

There's a great picture book called 'Double Pink' in which the character is called Maddison.

OldGrinch · 03/09/2019 21:14

I don't like it sounds very chavvy
