(I’m not trolling!)

Ever since Kylie Jenner chose this for her daughter over a year ago I’ve been in love with the name Stormi / Stormie / Stormy / Storm!

I couldn’t use it as a first name could I? I love it but it’s probably silly and people will think I’m a die hard kardashian fan!

So as a last resort, as this is definitely my last baby, could I use one of the storms as a middle name?
Or should I just use it as a first name?
Please don’t be too harsh!

Floss

@katesalwayslate I think the mumsnet demographic is quite middle class so not representative of everyone

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 28/08/2019 08:07

I like Stormi, but Storm seems too harsh and blunt.

Oblomov19 · 28/08/2019 08:10

I have been hearing the name Storm a lot recently because Rolan Keating's new AUS GF, actually wife I think, ? is called Storm, and it's been in all the papers.

But it's a negative name isn't it? Doesn't have good connotations. Why give a child a negative name? That they are only going to like up to : "oh yes, she causes a storm everywhere she goes. Like her name".

TheoneandObi · 28/08/2019 08:11

Imagine your Storm signing off at the end is a BBC news item: ‘this is Storm Watkins (or whatever) fir BBC News in Mogadishu’. Does it work? Or is it silly?

scotwood · 28/08/2019 08:33

Ronan Keating's wife is called SHARON

scotwood · 28/08/2019 08:34

Oops sorry my mistake she is actually SharYn. But you know, not Storm.

Oblomov19 · 28/08/2019 10:15

Scotwood her official name is Sharyn storm but she has always been known as storm since childhood.

OrangeCakecrisp · 28/08/2019 10:17

I had a friend at uni with a brother called Storm - this is nearly 15 years ago. I don’t think it’s as unusual as people think.

scotwood · 28/08/2019 10:21

@Oblomov19

Yes. Her name is Sharyn.

mumtobe1984 · 28/08/2019 10:32

If I was having a girl I definitely would've considered Stormi however my husband reminded me it's a porn stars name, the one that slept with Trump Confused

BelfortGabbz · 28/08/2019 14:39

Kourtney Kardashians dd is called Penelope. A lot nicer than Kylies effort.

Antonin · 28/08/2019 15:26

What about Gale?
Tornado and Hurricane re a bit OTT

Antonin · 28/08/2019 15:27

Seriously, Penelope Storm sounds good. Gives your. DD the choice

kenandbarbie · 28/08/2019 20:26

Well you know what people will say / think. So it's up to you!!

Sophronia · 28/08/2019 21:25

I prefer it for a boy. It’s quite commonly used in Scandinavia.

Changedname81 · 29/08/2019 12:37

Penelope Storm - so (almost) the names of TWO of the Kardashian kids?

It makes you look a bit like a crazy fan! Grin

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 30/08/2019 21:58

Awful!!! Suggests an uneven temperament. Hate it, sorry!

escapade1234 · 31/08/2019 00:58

What’s so appealing about naming your child after bad weather?

PurBal · 31/08/2019 07:36

I don't see the problem with this at all. It's not particularly out there imo. Isn't it Swedish?

I remember a friend calling her son Cosmo and I was like "oh cool, nice old English / Italian name" and she looked at me like "is it, I thought I made it up"

TildaTurnip · 31/08/2019 07:41

I know a Norwegian 7 year old boy called Storm. I like it.

I really dislike Stormi or Stormy.

volant1s · 31/08/2019 07:44

Storm is a powerful female character from X-Men. That's what I would be thinking of if I met someone named Storm.

Storm
EdnaAdaSmith · 31/08/2019 07:46

If you must use it just use Storm. Stormie is definitely a stripper/ porn name.

Middle name is better.

Is it really the label that you want to stick on your baby / child - violence, turbulence, drama, flooding, disruption, chaos?

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 31/08/2019 07:50

sorry my mistake she is actually SharYn. But you know, not Storm

No scotwood, you are still wrong her name is Storm it's her middle name, stop reading the daily mail

Stayawayfromitsmouth · 31/08/2019 07:56

I like it. It's a perfectly normal name.
You could use Tempest instead however?
As a PP said this board seems to be populated by posters who only like traditional English names. Just in case your child is set to become a high Court judge (not that a name will effect that) or that they might be bullied (by said posters child probably). Hmm
