Storm

(I’m not trolling!)

Ever since Kylie Jenner chose this for her daughter over a year ago I’ve been in love with the name Stormi / Stormie / Stormy / Storm!

I couldn’t use it as a first name could I? I love it but it’s probably silly and people will think I’m a die hard kardashian fan!

So as a last resort, as this is definitely my last baby, could I use one of the storms as a middle name?
Or should I just use it as a first name?
Please don’t be too harsh!

Floss

I love the name!

ugh I love Stormie as a first name, this is so hard. I don’t want to give her a silly name! I’ll sleep on it xx

Always been one of my favourite names.

LoonyLunaLoo · 27/08/2019 21:54

Storm yes, Stormy maybe, Stormi/Stormie absolutely not!

LipSyncForYourLife · 27/08/2019 21:57

Not very British. Have you thought about Drizzle?

MamaFlintstone · 27/08/2019 21:57

You just know they’re going to end up being a right drip

novasglowx · 27/08/2019 22:34

I love it. It was always on my list, though the name I'd choose if I had another girl would be Rain and so Storm wouldn't be a good middle Grin. I think it's lovely in its own right, it's definitely not as "out there" as other name ideas on here. It's a strong name, literally a force of nature.

novasglowx · 27/08/2019 22:36

Also, Nikki Sixx has an adult daughter called Storm. Mick Mars has an adult daughter called Stormy. It's nothing new or daft.

nespressowoo · 27/08/2019 22:37

Don't inflict that on a child, fgs.

Rainbowknickers · 27/08/2019 22:44

I know 2 storms
One is very middle class (her sisters have odd names too-but she’s very bad tempered all the time (has been since I met her as a toddler)
The other when to school with my daughter-she was my daughters bully-she is now in prison for murder and drug dealing-she’ll be an old lady when she gets out
Your baby your choice but I’d think twice to be fair

TerribleCustomerCervix · 27/08/2019 22:49

Storm is fine in a “I’m dead quirky, me” kind of way. Same as Bear, Fox etc, it’s a bit try hard but not unheard of.

Stormie/Stormy/Stormi is dreadful.

It may not be new, but it's definitely daft!

HeadintheiClouds · 27/08/2019 23:33

It is gruesome in the extreme. May as well call her Cardboard Box.
I love that you don’t want to give her a silly name, yet are considering this 🤷🏻‍♀️

HeadintheiClouds · 27/08/2019 23:34

Why would you call a child Rain?? That’s utterly bizarre.

novasglowx · 27/08/2019 23:36

Each to their own 🤷🏻‍♀️

Bonbonchance · 27/08/2019 23:36

I taught a Storm who will be about fifteen now, it’s a great name, really suited her! Nobody batted an eyelid, as normal as Katie/Ava/Sophie etc. And easy to learn to spell!

ComeTheFuck0nBridget · 27/08/2019 23:42

I love it!

AverageMummy · 27/08/2019 23:44

Terrible terrible terrible
Penelope is lovely

dimdarkashian · 27/08/2019 23:48

Storm is better than Penelope

AverageMummy · 27/08/2019 23:51

Corentine & Audra mean storm so stormie would be a cute unusual nickname for a name like that

AverageMummy · 27/08/2019 23:51

Thora = Goddess of thunder and storm

katesalwayslate · 28/08/2019 05:59

I think it’s cool! I’d recommend you head over to another naming board for opinions on more modern or quirky names. Mumsnetters seem to only like quite dull names on the whole - Constance, Sarah, Hannah, Victoria etc - and names like this always get the same reaction. I don’t think it’s respresentative of the real world, where in my opinion more cool modern names would go down much better than something tedious like Jane.

GaraMedouar · 28/08/2019 06:06

Storm off the Jeremy Vine show is great. When I first saw her and heard her name I thought 'mmm not sure', now she is just Storm, suits it, and it's her. So go for it if you like, but Storm not Stormie or Stormzy or anything. I quite like nature names like Rain, River, Winter, Wren etc but would need to be the proper spelling of the word, not made up.

RebeccaRae · 28/08/2019 06:10

I really hate it, sorry 🙈 it just sounds so tacky to me. She'll have to beat the burden of a name that raises eyebrows for the rest of her life.
