Yes, it’s me again, from that Lennyn thread.

I have spent hours looking through lists and this is the only one I like. Yes I am v fussy with names. very

The name is NOVA. is it stupid? if so just suggest some names to me pls.

P.s. it was also a night of great historical research. Honestly had no clue who Lenin / Starlin / Trotsky were so yeah now I know.

Star-Lyn tickled me

Makes me think of a car model, the Vauxhall Nova. Sorry.

FenellaMaxwell · 26/08/2019 15:35

So it was a no to Star-Lyn at Hittla then? Grin
Nova is better, but still bad.

Colourfulest · 26/08/2019 15:49

I love the name Nova. It's growing in popularity and not unusual anymore.

Oysterbabe · 26/08/2019 15:53

For a girl? It's no worse than Luna I think.

hairyturkey · 26/08/2019 15:56

I was actually thinking about this name earlier. Love it

mumofbun · 26/08/2019 15:57

I love the name Nova - there's someone i follow on instagram (elsie larson) with a little girl called Nova and she's so sweet!

HappyDinosaur · 26/08/2019 15:59

It's ok, not a horrible name or anything, but it does make me think of the car.

Hotbiscuits · 26/08/2019 15:59

I quite like it-I've seen worse 'unusual' names.

Mxyzptlk · 26/08/2019 16:00

I like Starlyn.

Sexnotgender · 26/08/2019 16:01

Its not terrible but it’s really not great either!

It’s better than Lennyn thoughWink

WhiteVixen · 26/08/2019 16:04

What about Lyra? That’s a lovely star-themed name, if that’s what you’re going for.

Starshapeddreams · 26/08/2019 16:06

I think Nova is nice and I typically like more traditional names.
I wouldn't worry too much about the car association, it didn't occur to me till I read previous comments!

pumkinspicetime · 26/08/2019 16:09

Well it's a lot better than Lennyn.
Like a previous poster I associate it rather with the Chevy Nova a very long running small American car but I don't think that is a an awful connection.

boredboredboredboredbored · 26/08/2019 16:11

I like it op and if you do then go for it 👍🏻

Cbeebiesrehab · 26/08/2019 16:11

Nova is nice, similar in style to Luna and Alba to me. Go for it if you like it. Also, well done on coming back and posting again after the harsh critique you received on your previous thread! Nova is in no way comparable to LennynGrin

Bubblysqueak · 26/08/2019 16:15

Sorry automatically thought of the car.

drquin · 26/08/2019 16:18

There's a legend in marketing that the reason the Nova car quickly became a Corsa (as it already was across Europe) is because it was realised that "no va" is a crude / rough translation of "doesn't go" in French & Spanish .......

If that makes a difference to you.

AverageMummy · 26/08/2019 16:23

I like Nova - although I’ve never heard of the car
It’s cute & strong sounding to me - so no sense knocking here !

Frith2013 · 26/08/2019 17:15

It’s a star or a car.

Slightly worried someone would not have heard of the Russian Revolution etc.

underthebridgedowntown · 26/08/2019 17:40

Nova's a lovely name - name of a colleague I had a few years ago - she was pretty awesome, so it's got good pedigree in my eyes Grin

Rachelover40 · 26/08/2019 17:43

It means 'a star showing a sudden large increase in brightness and then slowly returning to its original state over a few months'. So - nice. My first thought was the car but that's a bit old hat now.

I did laugh at Lennyn :-.

Lyra was mentioned, how about Lycra?

Luaa · 26/08/2019 17:46

I like it. I didn't think of the car until I read previous comments.

user1493494961 · 26/08/2019 17:52

Either the car or supernova. Bit of a nothing name really.

31RueCambon75001 · 26/08/2019 17:54

It does have a similar feel to Luna but ''moon'' is a nicer meaning than ''doesn't go'' or ''doesn't work''.

I can't get past that!

(I know it's latin as well, for new? I could almost give Estrella Nova a smile. She would be in your World. NN Nova, as Tiger Lily is usually Lily.

I'm still brainstorming though. So, Nouvelle is a toilet paper. Em, what about Noelle That is beautiful and it seems in a similar vein. Also Noemi that just popped in to my head. Or Nola or Noelia.

Do you like Luna, what about Lupe short for Penelope (sometimes, also Guadalupe)

I love Lyra it's lovely. I'm sure somebody on this board was hell bent on Lyric a while ago. It was a radio station to start with! Lyra lovely though.

Instead of Lennyn (which was a bit contrived imo, like John Lennon but for a girl ) what about Linnet or Linnea or even just Lynn that's due a comeback! I like Lenore as well, nod to (OMG??) Checkov??

joystir59 · 26/08/2019 17:56

I prefer Fiat related names such as Punto personally
