I agree with PPs: why should it be regarded as any different to Daisy etc., re being linked (in negative way) to animals?

[Traditional 'cow' names Buttercup & Marigold are probably primed for a comeback as (human) baby names any minute now, mark my words...]

It’s a lovely sounding name but I automatically think of a cow. Sorry OP. Having said that, people quickly forget other associations when you use a name. Soon it would just become your DD name.

It is not ridiculous at all. I wouldn't choose it myself simply because of the 3 hard letters in it c,v,r but if you love it, I think it is quite unusual and go with it, it is quite pretty. It does not remind me of butter/margarine - it reminds me of the small meadow flowers that the brand also took the name from.

I've always liked it, mainly because of the 'What Katy Did' association. I wouldn't use it though, I'm not quite quirky enough.

I like it . It’s a Victorian name. The Victorians were the first to use or popularise flower names for girls, and Clover is one of these. I think of What Katy Did too, another Victorian book.

Reminds me of a bunny for some reason.. But plenty of people use the name Daisy and Daisy is often associated with names of cows ect
