My top 3
Cosmo
Rex
Magnus

All fairly normal names I think, too posh In Dh's opinion. If I like these what else would I like?

He's also vetoed Conrad, his favourite name is Thomas.

I'd love to find an old old English name lole ethelred (but not that!)

Edwin?
Vincent (not English but Vinnie is great!)
Issac?
Alfred?
Boys names are hard, good luck!

zafferana · 27/07/2019 21:46

Olde English you say ...

Edgar
Silas
Alfred
Bede
Edwin

Thomas is very classic and won't date, it's also quite popular and possibly a bit boring, but you could do worse! My DH vetoed all my names too ... sigh.

Ooh Humphrey is a great name. And cool too, reminds me of Bogart.

Would he gets called humps at school though?

DH likes Thomas but I find it a bit boring. He's also vetoed Duncan which I like

Silas is another good one.

My DS is Thomas, my best friends dog is called Cosmo. I’m obviously biased but I still love the name Thomas. Doesn’t sound try hard, or sound like a pet. May be a bit boring for some but a good strong name imo

JanewaysBun · 28/07/2019 08:27

Oswin's a good one. Oz for short is good (i actually know an adult one but not shirt for oswin and always thought that was cool)

I also love Hamish as both DH and I have Scottish roots. My maiden name is Mcsomething but it doesn't work as a first name like McKinley/McKenzie etc so I quite like Mac as a way to keep my side going!
