I think me and DP are going to struggle to agree on a name, so I'm trying to put my list together so we can hopefully find something we agree on!

My list so far:

Tabitha
Talulah
Hannah
Alicia
Marlena
Evelina
Juno
Anya
Harriet
Alannah
Cara
Kaia
Natasha
Georgia
Abigail

I'm really struggling to find something I love, so any suggestions welcome Smile

Tabitha - not keen
Talulah - Tallulah. I can see the appeal but I wouldn't use it

Jingers5 · 27/07/2019 20:48

What about Cora, Zoe, Laina

TFSRM · 27/07/2019 20:50

Harriet and Hannah are my favourites from your list. I also like Hazel.

Missmossy · 27/07/2019 20:52

I like cara

BirdIsland · 27/07/2019 21:00

Thanks for the input everyone. I think my favorite is Hannah but can't think of any nice ways of shortening it. Like some of the suggestions to - particularly Genevieve and Lauren.

I'm finding it so hard, wish there was just one that I absolutely loved then I'd just have to convince DP to love it too!

Keep the suggestions coming, it's great to hear some names I wouldn't have thought of.

Tabitha - Top 3, Tabby is cute as a toddler nickname but it’s a good adult name too
Talulah - nope
Hannah - Top 3, probably number 1, I LOVE this name - timeless, suits all ages, not horribly popular (would have used it were it not the name of DH’s ex 🙄)
Alicia - don’t like the lispy ‘s’ sound in the middle and lots of room for pronunciation issues (A-leesh-a? A-liss-ee-ah?)
Marlena - like it but not as much as others
Evelina - like this more than I initially thought. If shortened to Eve/Evie this is v popular though, does that bother you?
Juno - nope. Not my thing at all.
Anya - meh.
Harriet - Like but prefer Tabitha/Hannah/Abigail
Alannah - nope
Cara - nope
Kaia - Feels a bit Kardashian 😬
Natasha - like but not wild on it
Georgia - meh
Abigail - Top 3 - classic, not to common, suits all ages

Violashift · 27/07/2019 21:02

Tabitha - A cats name
Talulah - Agree fancy stripper
Hannah - common
Alicia - like
Marlena - OK
Evelina - can't unsee Ever leaner
Juno - Like
Anya - not keen
Harriet - like
Alannah - don't like - too Alan old
Mam
Cara - OK
Kaia -How to say it?
Natasha - awful, old, moustache reminder
Georgia - Love island

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 27/07/2019 21:09

The only one don't like is Juno.
I'm also not fussed on Marlena and Natasha which is Ah Satan backwards.
Like pp Alicia depends on the pronunciation.
I love Al-ee- sha, but not so much Al-ee-seer

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 27/07/2019 21:10

Also don't like Evelina.

littlebitstressed · 27/07/2019 21:14

Tabitha - not really
Talulah - a bit fancy
Hannah - nice but common
Alicia - never been a fan myself for some reason but I wouldn’t discourage using it
Marlena - no
Evelina - love it
Juno - strange but cute
Anya - gorgeous, I know an Anya and she’s so sweet
Harriet - super cute
Alannah - not really keen on this one
Cara - nice
Kaia - beautiful name if pronounced right (Kai-ah)
Natasha - hate it (sorry)
Georgia - don’t love it but don’t hate it, prefer Georgie

imsorryiasked · 27/07/2019 21:19

What about Johanna, shortened to Hanna?

Fatkins · 27/07/2019 21:29

Tabitha - love it.
Talulah - I find this a silly name. I don't know why... It's a bit like la la and Lou Lou. It's a silly sound in my head.
Hannah - dislike. It's a bit boring and also makes a bit of a honking sound.
Alicia - see Alannah.
Marlena - harsh. I don't like it.
Evelina - it's ok.
Juno - love it.
Anya - like it, but love Aine!
Harriet - love it
Alannah - I would like it, except there are a lot of girl names around now with several syllables and which begin and end with an a sound... Ariella, Amelia, Amara, Alicia / Alyssa, Arabella etc etc. They begin to sound a bit samey after a while.
Cara - not keen
Kaia - I'm not mad about it. It's come up on another thread on here recently. I don't know why, but I can't get into it.
Natasha - dated.
Georgia - I hate it in many English accents, where it becomes jawjah.
Abigail - a bit dated.

Happyhouralways · 27/07/2019 21:33

Always loved Hannah, it sounds good and a bonus it’s spelt same forwards as backwards (which as a child I thought was the coolest thing ever!!)
Harriet & Cara I also like from your list. Clara? Good luck!

StarJumpsandaHalf · 27/07/2019 21:35

From your list my favourite is Anya.
An alternative suggestion is Carys which means loved one.

Fatkins · 27/07/2019 21:39

Anna?

Loveislandaddict · 27/07/2019 21:40

Marlena - Think of Marleen from Only Fools and horses - sounds dated
Kaia - don’t like

Other names are good

Alternatives:
Felicity
Gemma
Carmella
Natasha
Natalia
Eliza
Emily
Alicia
Laura
Faye
Leonora
Jessica
Polly

KirstyT11 · 27/07/2019 21:47

We also struggled to agree on girls name... so I get it!
Love harriet and Cara from your list. Our baby girl was almost cara!

What about Edie? Could have edith as more traditional and edie for short, or just straight edie! We also liked Amara, Callie, and adaline!

Tweetingmagpie · 27/07/2019 21:48

I have a Tabitha and she gets called tab by most people.
