Don't know what I'm having well a baby hopefully so need boys and girls names.

I have absolutely no idea. It's such an awkward name.

That is tricky. What names have worked in the rest of the family?

smeerf · 16/07/2019 22:46

I also had to pick something that went with a single syllable surname and I found that a two syllable first name works best. I went with Nathan (but you might want to avoid ones that end with n due to the repetition).

smeerf · 16/07/2019 22:48

Having said that, what about Dominic? It was my favourite name that I couldn't use and I think it goes really well!

Twixes · 16/07/2019 22:52

I think a longer firstname would work well. Dominic is a good suggestion as the word ending is completely different.

CalamBalam · 16/07/2019 22:54

Alistair Stan

Cordelia Stan

(I think you need something slightly frilly to go with such a blunt surname)

Some good ones in here:

Sebastian? Elliott?

EssentialHummus · 16/07/2019 22:55

Michael and Michaela? Different sounds.

sneakypinky · 16/07/2019 22:55

Sebastian!

31ruecambon · 16/07/2019 23:00

Something with 2 or 3 syllables but no s or t
Julia
Clara
Penelope
Jemima
Lydia
Marina
Phoebe

For boys, that's harder. Patrick came in to my head and then I thought, no, that sounds like a country.

Dominic is good actually!

wellytan · 16/07/2019 23:04

The only person in the family who's name goes well with it is fil who's name is Valentino but I'm not keen on naming the baby after any close family.

The actor Sebastian Stan puts me off using Sebastian :(

Dominic is nice. I do have a cousin Dominic but I very rarely see him so I don't think it'll be a problem.

I think a longer name works best - 3, or maybe 4 syllables. No -a or -an endings. Maybe avoiding s sounds too.

Annabel, Emily or Penelope for a girl?

Dominic for a boy, as suggested, is lovely.

Ellmau · 17/07/2019 00:15

Roderick? Has the same flow to it as Dominic, without making you look like your using your cousin's name.

CherryValance · 17/07/2019 00:23

Ellenora Stan just popped into my head, think it sounds quite nice.

Of course the answer is going to be a big, fat 'no, absolutely out of the question' - but why not give the baby your (I'm sure, much nicer) surname

Birdie6 · 17/07/2019 03:39

I love Dominic too - Dominic Stan has a great ring to it.
