Awful, truly awful. I knew a duck called Hector once, and that’s the most positive thing I can think of to say about it.

If you want to give birth to an overweight, ruddy cheeked middle aged man who sits on the parish council and makes inappropriate jokes, calling your baby Hector is the way to do it.

I love it! So much so that it’s my DS1’s name. I got some negative reactions when I first announced the name but now no one can imagine him as anything else... and he’s an awesome kid Grin

Please don't Shock

FogCutter · 17/06/2019 16:03

No, it makes me think of to hector/ hectoring which isn't a nice thing.

GreigLaidlawsbarofsoap · 17/06/2019 16:06

I think of Eric Bana in Troy - mmmmm Blush

growlingbear · 17/06/2019 16:09

The verb 'to hector' is horrible and should put me off, but the only Hector I know is a very cute small boy so it's also endearing.

User67836 · 17/06/2019 16:12

Love it

woodhill · 17/06/2019 16:15

No, Hector's house with cat and frog - Kiki

RuthW · 17/06/2019 16:17

I like it but it reminds me of Hector's house. I'd use it.

TatianaLarina · 17/06/2019 16:18

Love.

Iliad and Eachann.

TatianaLarina · 17/06/2019 16:18

I loved Hector’s House.

HippyTrails · 17/06/2019 16:19

yes, I rather like it

DoodlySquat · 17/06/2019 17:07

No - the only Hector I know is a bully and workshy

Fullmoons · 17/06/2019 17:13

The meaning of to hector or hectoring would put me off. Also nickname Heck?!

Owlbert · 17/06/2019 17:13

I like it!

Bluerussian · 17/06/2019 17:15

I don't mind the name but wonder what the child would be called for short - Hec I suppose.

NuffingChora · 17/06/2019 17:15

We loved it, would have been our top choice boy name (had we had another boy!)

fairybeagle · 17/06/2019 17:49

@MsTSwift that's intriguing! May I ask what the other boys name is? (They obviously also have my taste in names haha)

@Tana433 no! Should I be? A nice character called Hector?

OP posts:
Tana433 · 17/06/2019 18:00

Not a particularly nice character but played by the gorgeous Rhys Ifans that I may just have a soft spot for!

small2018 · 17/06/2019 18:04

No

BelfortGabbz · 17/06/2019 18:07

I'd HATE to be called Hector.

Shockers · 17/06/2019 18:08

I know a small Hector and he’s such a cool kid! He’s endlessly interested in everything around him and is an absolute delight to be around.

So, yes!

ZaZathecat · 17/06/2019 18:10

woodhill, the cat or course being ZaZa!

ppwonar · 17/06/2019 18:11

Yes!
