Good, solid, timeless, not overly used name?

Or a bit wet and pompous?

Just re-read the first Famous Five book with DD and was reminded how much I liked this name when I was a child.

A bit wet and pompous - sorry

I like Jude though

Cmagic7 · 27/05/2019 19:23

Yeah - I like it.

taylorlynn · 27/05/2019 19:23

I love it, helps that both Julian's I know are really good looking Grin

Refilona · 27/05/2019 19:24

I love it and probably would have used it if I was having a boy.

sonlypuppyfat · 27/05/2019 19:24

Really like it, I love Julian in the Yorkshire Vet

Passthecherrycoke · 27/05/2019 19:24

It was very much a lawyers name but I like it!

Malyshek · 27/05/2019 19:25

I think it's fine. I used to really like this name as a teen. And if you're not sure you've got a bunch of related names - Julien, Jules, Julio, Julianne (for a girl), Juline...

Satina · 27/05/2019 19:26

Forgot about Julian in The Yorkshire Vet. That's a massive plus for the name as far as I'm concerned.

I love it and I also like Julius, know several of both spanning a range of age groups and none of them is wet or pompous.

FizzyGreenWater · 27/05/2019 19:27

Julian Cope, so ace.

Peachbubble · 27/05/2019 19:35

I like it

Purplelavenders · 27/05/2019 19:46

Great strong classic name!

Purplelavenders · 27/05/2019 19:46

What does 'pompous' even mean Confused?

Realbee85 · 27/05/2019 19:58

Wet and drippy

17caterpillars1mouse · 27/05/2019 20:00

I really like it. It was the name of a character in a book I read as a teenager and he sounded very sexy (think it was a book series called the forbidden game - pointhorror maybe?)

Always liked the name since then

Clubbercised · 27/05/2019 20:01

Hmmmm I'm on the fence about this one. I lean towards wet I think. Sorry.

I seriously considered Jolyon for DS. I love it, but I think it has a wet and pompous reputation too sadly.

Teddybearhunter · 27/05/2019 20:01

I don’t really like it but I don’t hate it

CalamityJess · 27/05/2019 20:04

Love it. A beautiful underused classic.

kenandbarbie · 27/05/2019 20:04

I find it a bit wet too.

puppylovebaby · 27/05/2019 20:56

Horrible- sorry

Nomintrude · 27/05/2019 21:04

Love it - not remotely 'wet' to me, it's a good strong underused name.

simplekindoflife · 27/05/2019 21:06

Wet, fussy and pretentious. Sorry! Blush

TatianaLarina · 27/05/2019 21:09

I like Julian, and also Jude.

Kanga83 · 27/05/2019 21:12

If you like it, use it. Personally I've only met one Julian and he was an utter arse and I still have nightmares from working with him 6 years on. Having said that my boy has what some consider a pompous and wet name so if you love it, go for it .

Rocketgirl1 · 27/05/2019 21:17

Never liked it. It’s of a type like Nigel or Timothy or Trevor but slightly better.
