Good, solid, timeless, not overly used name?

Or a bit wet and pompous?

Just re-read the first Famous Five book with DD and was reminded how much I liked this name when I was a child.

It’s also a female name, re Julian of Norwich

CaptainCabinets · 27/05/2019 23:24

Postman Pat’s son Blush

Sophronia · 27/05/2019 23:32

I think I’d probably like it if I didn’t associate it with an awful Julian I know.

Quintella · 27/05/2019 23:39

The two that pop into my head are that bossy twat from the Famous Five and that colossal twat from the Ecuadorean Embassy.

It's a no from me.

MyElbowIsItchy · 27/05/2019 23:40

No. Just plain no.

YouBoggleMyMind · 27/05/2019 23:40

No, don't like it.
Ex boss was called Julian. Emotionally abusive and an all round knob. Sorry!

DramaAlpaca · 27/05/2019 23:43

I tend to like classic names, but not that one. It will always be associated with the Famous Five to me.

FurrySlipperBoots · 27/05/2019 23:46

It just makes me think of the bossy big brother in the Famous Five, forever telling George she can't do things because she' just a girl!

Whatareyoutalkingabout · 28/05/2019 05:59

Really cool, definitely ready for a comeback! Yes it's one of those names that some people describe as wet, but so are so many lovely names which are back in fashion now (Reuben, Wilfred, Wilbur, Alfred, Seth) etc. I've seen all of these called wet but they're all making their comeback and actually I don't think they're 'wet' at all - when I hear these names I envision lovely, well brought up, polite little boys. Go for Julian!

DameSquashalot · 28/05/2019 06:09

I know a horrible piece of work called Julian, so I'm not a fan.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 28/05/2019 06:10

I like it, but I’m a huge Julian Cope fan, so utterly biased.

OhTheRoses · 28/05/2019 06:11

Must be due a come back along with Jeremy. There were lots in my youth. I like it.

angelopal · 28/05/2019 06:11

Sorry the first thing I thought of was king Julian from Madagascar singing I like to move it, it move.

Whoops75 · 28/05/2019 06:15

Not a fan, also find it wet.

Happilyacceptingcookies · 28/05/2019 06:22

Assange. But that's a temporary connection. Pistorious didn't harm the success of the name Oscar I suppose.

AloneLonelyLoner · 28/05/2019 06:23

Makes me think of Julian Clary who is a misogynistic arsehole, so it's a no from me. But obviously your Julian and the people he knows when he grows up won't know of such arseholes.

Snipples · 28/05/2019 07:25

Very wet sorry. I do like Jude but think it's becoming more of a girl name now. James is a better alternative and very classic.

Purplelavenders · 28/05/2019 08:33

What does 'wet' mean?Confused

Letthemysterybe · 28/05/2019 08:38

I don’t think it’s wet but I do think it’s pompous. In my mind ‘Julian’ is a superior, arrogant Tory.

taylorlynn · 28/05/2019 08:40

Don't see how it's a "wet" name at all Confused

Clettercletterthatsbetter · 28/05/2019 10:12

I really like it.

LarkDescending · 28/05/2019 10:28

I like it. I know two - one an adult who is a professional musician, the other a young (late teens) athlete. I think it’s a name that can take you anywhere in life.

Ladymargarethall · 28/05/2019 10:31

I have a friend called Julian. He uses a different name except for official purposes.

Wet and pompous - apologies! It's one of the only boy names I really hate
